Pre op diet!

Hi Kelly,

I am on day 11 of the milk diet and i have found it ok to be honest.
I did think it would be hell on earth but i have never been hungry not once.
I am having my op on Wednesday so i only have 3 days of the milk diet to go . I have lost nearly a stone so am really pleased.

All the best with your pre-op diet ,
love Marie.xox
P.S where do you live and where are you having your op ?

Well done on the stone weight loss, Your day will soon be here. Keep focused and busy and it will just fly by. What sort of things have you been making with your milk etc - just fishing for tips, if you don't mind. xx

Thank you ladies i am getting very excited not long to go now!!
With the milk diet the only real things i have done is add strawberry crusher to it ,as that the only flavour with no added sugar i could get. I did mix milk with jellies to make a blancmange thing ,just to make a different texture to eat.

well done to everyone on their Pre-op diets your all doing fab, just a question do they actually give you the choice of the milk diet or the low kcal one or do they choose for you?

Each area is different, I was given the choice of 4 pints of milk OR unlimited low fat yogurts. Well I chose the milk. I am NHS, but anther member going private. but with the same surgeon, was given a low fat low carb diet.

Oh and my second shop was £50 quid BUT it did include dog tins, some household stuff, and some bulk items. Still that would have been over £100 I am sure with normal food.

And I agree well done everyone, and wishes to those about to start!

As mentioned before each area seems to be different if they give you the milk diet or low cal etc. I have nearly finished my milk diet as due to have my op at Chichester on wednesday same time as pooh bear. I wish u all lots of luck and always here if anyone needs a chat.
I have made milky coffees also with my milk and iced coffees they where yum and different. We can do this everyone. Good luck luv hugs Kaz x x x

I think that I am goint to struggle with the 3 portions of veg/salad per day, but saying that I can have weight watchers soup so long as they don't have potato in them. So it is either a salad with nothing on it, stir fry veg with fry light, or steamed veg or veg as a soup. It is all going to be worth it in the end. :D

Iced coffee sounds yummy - how do you do that please? :D

I normally add 10/12 cubes of ice to pint of milk and a shot or 2 of expresso into a blender/smoothie maker. Its even nicer if you add a drop of vanilla essence x

Wow everyone is doing so well! I didn't get a choice @lilmissairhead. I am at spire in Liverpool, and I was told that this is the diet for the band. @neeta, I thought the veg would be an issue. I have only had 1 portion during the day (piece of fruit or salad with lunch) so that I can have 2 servings with evening meal (6tblsp). That has worked well for me. I am used to it now & actually enjoying it & am not even tempted. I had my parents round for dinner last night. I cooked them all a roast with the trimmings & chocolate cake pudding. I didn't feel deprived having my 3oz turkey & 6 tbsp veg! And I wasnt tempted to try! Nearly 1 week left! x

I think that we are both on different diets, reading your post. I am not allowed any meat at all, just 3 pints of skimmed milk, 3 portions of veg/salad, 2 portions of fruit, 2 diet yogs, sugar free jelly and ulimited amounts of water. It just makes be wonder why different areas have different diets for the same operation. :(

Neeta,

What about veggie chili or curry or even, if you're allowed it, sweet and sour?

I have said somewhere else, all the diets seem to differ a bit.

When I was given my diet it was supposed to be the milk one but, as I have an intolerance to yoghurt and use very little dairy products in my diet, they said I'd struggle with that one so gave me one which does not allow any meat, fish or egg yolks but is unlimited on fruit, veggies, milk, yoghurt or fromage frais and also allows sugars. Fats and oils are a big no-no and I think I'll manage on it very well - I just hope they still follow this one as I was given the info over a year ago!!

Hi Terri,

Yes we were giving the choice ,but our bariatric nurse said they would rather we did the milk diet as we would have a better weight loss.

Like the sound of that - seeing as though I am doing the MD. :D

Have just spent 2 days in London with work. I wasn't looking forward to this as in the past, I have used the lonely night in a hotel as an opportunity to eat! Being half way thru my Pre op diet, I was worried how I would handle it! I am pleased to say I have been super good & stuck to it. I ate my measured amount of salad & chicken breast in my room & then went out with my colleagues & watched them devour Thai food (grrrrrrrr). This morning I had what looked like 2 eggs worth of scrambled egg, saving my carbs for a ham sandwich at lunch (again at breakfast, i watched my colleagues devour full fry ups!) I am now on train on way home & looking forward to my 5oz cod & serving of veg. Wonders never cease!
