Hi guys. I am wondering how long after the end of four week milk diet did you have the op? I am swinging between wildly optimistic and ohmygod this is going to take forever and would just like a ballpark idea.

I only did the low carb diet for 1 week, not the milk diet. Each hospital differs but I'm sure some milk dieters will be along to give thier experience soon. Good luck with it x

You stay on the diet up to the day before your op ... they don't start you on the diet until they have a firm date for you xxx :):) 4 weeks seems excessive though ... the longest I have seen anyone do is 2 weeks but most are 10days & I only did 7... you will have to check with your dietician cos there is no way I could have done it for 4 weeks  xxx

L and d ask you do four week prActise run to make sure you really really really want the surgery. Nice of them, no?

i had done that twice before (different dietitians with differing ideas) they'll put you on the refeed diet after that 1200 calories a day in my case ......you'll need to do this before they will go any further ;)

Oh Gawd, Yve ... I'm speechless & that doesn't happen too often :(:(:( In that case, I have no idea ... that sounds like cruel & unusual punishment. Lots of people are given a target weight loss before their next appointment but not on the milk diet. It is up to them how they achieve it. xxx :):)

they have to try every avenue open to them before going forwards ;) been there done that got the bypass :8855:

The MILK DIET for 4 weeks twice, Joffy? ...

Hi, I had to do my milk diet for 2 weeks pre-op and had to stop the day before my op. All the best hun xx Also some of the people I was in with changed from the milk diet to a low carb diet! Discuss the options with your team. Good luck :D xxxx

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my options are zilch. Milk diet or thou shalt not pass! Still I can live with this. How long do you reckon on the refeed joffy?

Hehe you'd think wouldn't you Twinkle!

I was given a date, started the pre-op diet 2 weeks before my date and, 6 days later, rang to find out when I would get the letter confirming my admission - only to be told they weren't even operating on the date I was given!

Rang back when told to to get new date only to be told that I'm not going to reach top of the list until mid/late December! Seeing surgeon tomorrow to find out what's happening and if I can be moved back up the list!

Hello
I'm at L&D. I did my milk diet for 5 weeks (would have been 4 weeks but partners work wouldn't let him have day off so went a week later). And after milk diet, it was 6 weeks till next appointment to meet the surgeon, then op about 3 months later.
Hope this helps xxx

Thanks so much Danielle. This is exactly the info I wanted to know

I am expecting refeed to be harder to stick to, but I am determined to lose as much as possible both before and after. Equally, however, I knew when I decided on the bypass that I was never going to be perfect, and that my best was just going to have to be good enough. After that, its just one day at a time, right? How long were you on the refeed PG?
