Referral waiting time?

So IF I get a date in May, I would have waited 6.5/7 months from date my GP sent letter xxx

Not long in the grand scheme of things and very lucky, I think, compared to people/areas who don't have this funding type rolled out yet. xx

Thanks for all the replies!

However you guys have depressed the crap outa me now!! :( ha! 18 months is such a long long time!! Im even contemplating a serious downgrade on my pride and joy (car) for a private operation!

But i guess ill wait it out for now.. get to the first step then see how it goes from there... I could even get rejected as im only 20 ect.. probably not since im as fat as butter but you never know with the NHS!

anyways, not sure you guys will be fussed but ill let you know when i hear word! :sigh:

:wave_cry:

Hi MC - dont get down and 18 months is not long to wait honest, I know it dont seem like that now. In a way I was glad it took that long as it really got my head round the op and have done all the research etc. If you have referral give the hospital a call and see if they have received it.

Staff are lovely at Sunderland I have found. Once you go to seminar u will get loads of info, they give u so long to say that you want to go ahead with op and a number to ring ( i did it the next day lol).

After that you will get appt to see dietician and then the ball is rolling. you may need to have other tests but they do try and do them on the same day. You will then get a weight loss target or another target (like stopping smoking) I had an endoscopy on Jan 3rd and it is a four month wait after that. I am havin my op on 28th March so have only had to wait for 12 weeks from waiting list to op.

the lists are getting shorter all the time so chin up and diet on my friend. it will soon come around.

Any yes, let us know when you have the date. x

I was meant to see the surgeon last Monday but when I arrived I was told another 3 months due to not losing the 7kg required. I could use the excuse of my mother dying on New Year's Day but I won't as quite plain and simple it was down to me. I'm on my way to the expected weight because I have lost 7lb in 7 days so I will keep up with what I'm doing because I truly don't want to carry this remaining 23st any longer so everything crossed and hard work to be done. :)

Awww cupid I am sorry to hear that and I wish you all the best with your weight loss hun. How much did you lose? how far away from the 7kg are you?

Where are you at hospital wise? Sorry for all the questions, just me being nosey x
xx

Hi Joanne I was to see the surgeon last Monday at James Cook (Mr Dresner) but the appointments were running behind by an hour so the specialist nurse saw me instead.
Not that I mind as she is lovely. I was told that since last appointment (Sept last) on seminar day I had put on 7kg instead of losing it and that I can't even be considered until I have lost it. I emailed the dietitian and asked for a list of what I can eat instead of what I can't and started on Tuesday my new way of thinking....defo not a diet because I hate the word.
I'm disabled and have under active thyroid caused by Hashimoto disease so can do any exercise to burn it off. So I am defo impressed that the 7lb has gone. :)

Well done cupid, good for you. Hope u achieve yr loss soon x

Keep yr chin up and if you look in the recipe pages here u will get some lovely recipes. Keeps you interested in food instead of eating the same things all the time.

Do you have to lose 14kg now then or still seven? xx

No just the 7kg thank he lord. I think it's their way of making you prove to yourself and the team that you are serious about the journey and this is the answer. I got my referal after begging my doc in July last year and the Seminar soon followed at 3hrs long but enjoyable all the same. I was referred for tests and to see the psych done both and found out I needed CPAP but even though the CPAP is a dream I can't use it these last few days because I'm ill. Seems like it's a million miles of my next appointment in June but really worried that the surgeon will still say no because I just turned 50 last month. :'(

It will fly cupid honest, just try to stay focussed on the healthy eating and you will lose the weight xx

That is really quick, I hope Sunderland is the sAme, I've got the seminar tonight, quite looking forward to it. Do they set your target weight loss tonight?

Ah right, my sis in law was 27st and she was asked to lose 4lb, they must set your weight loss after speaking to you about your past etc, you see I'm a yo-yo loser, I can lose 3st then put it back on, lose 6st put it back on etc and I've done that since I was 11 which is the reason my doctor felt I was perfect candidate as I need some perm infant intervention. I'll write an update when I come back.

Perm infant intervention hahaha stupid predictive text, was ment to say some perminant intervention lol
