thank u for your replies i will phone the hospital on monday as for milk im loctose intolerant but i love loctose free milk so might just drink that without the shake in it.
On the pre diet I was told not to drink slimfast because of the carbs in it but to stick to the plain milky coffee and vanilla drops in the milk. something to do with stopping carbs then your body using the glycogen store from your liver. Or something like that. I'm rubbish with stuff like that! (I'd been doing slimfast on the pre diet till someone told me that!) I like you had to lose five pounds x
Its ok we've gone over the liquid diet and have wrote out our own program with milky coffees and yogurt and a ww meal in evening will do this tomorrow and phone the clinic Monday feeling better today have not had slimfast and drunk lots of water to flush it out.
I did, but this rubbish weather isn't helping! :-0 I've got the heating on. You are doing great mimi. It's really hard, that's why I get annoyed about people who say its cheating or taking the easy way out because it's not! You are working really hard at it. Good for you. Take heart that in a week or so you will be convalescing. Just make sure your hubby and kids look after you well x
Oh they look after me now bless em
This is differnantly not easy try going without real food for 4wks and then c if people still say its easy .
On a brighter note the lady I work for who was very poorly is home and doing really well and at 91 years old I hope I'm still doing as well as her at that age.
A friend of mine who didn't know I'd had it done was talking about it like that oh it's the easy way out, when I explained everything she was shocked. Especially at the idea of giving cider up for life! Glad to hear your friend is doing well! That's great news. X
I've found from telling everyone it's a real education piece for them. I've certainly had no snide comments (unless they've been two faced)! My friends know I'm working damn hard to get to goal! I think it's good to share your new knowledge with friends to aid support
Jo I know this might be a stupid question and I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but you know they say never have chewing gum again as its dangerous? Is that in case you swallow it and it blocks the band? We are ok with mints aren't we?!
Tbh I've never had gum pre op....stems from weird dreams as a kid..don't ask...nutter but yes I'd steer clear just because of risk if you swallowed it! But mints are fine...sugar free or breath spray if you don't want the calories x
Chewing gum creates excessive gastric juices which can be detrimentally to our new stomachs hence why we have to take the fast tabs, ulcer risk & all that. Also because you are chewing but not swallowing you are creating gas & this goes down & can cause discomfort. Hope tht helps.
Ooh that does help! I can live without it it didn't really bother me before, just my godaughter offered me some yesterday and it made me wonder why it was so bad. Thanks very knowledgable!
Still feeling unwell but I think now its a cold I have been taking paracetomol I hope its gone by next Monday will they still do it if I'm not quiet right
Aww sorry to hear you are under the weather I don't know if they would do it as it says in the book if you have any cold symptoms you need to ring them. But there's every chance it would clear by then. If you can take decongestant or something that may help. Check with them though x
