Hello all

I am a week and a half away from surgery and getting nervous. I love reading all your posts but so many are confusing since it seems different in the states. Are there any other members from the US?

Thanks
Julia

Hi Julia:welcome: There are definitely people from the US on here. The journey to the procedure may be different but people are people the world over & a shared experience makes things less scary all round. Ask any specific questions you have & there will be someone who can answer you, but we will all support you emotionally. :)

I am from the states. And it is a bit hard to understand some of the other peoples posts because of the words that are used are a bit different. But everyone on here is so warm and welcoming! So don't be scared lol. I actually just had my surgery 3 days ago! So if you need someone to talk to I will be more than happy to be that person :). Good luck with your surgery and I hope that you will feel at home here!

because we speak english :D:D:D i have relatives in sc so i know we speak the same language .....just differently :p:p:p

Lol ya we just speak differently is all. Actually what is a stone? I see people say they have lost 2 stones or something is that the same as 20 lbs over here In the states?

Welcome to our friends across the pond! A stone is 14lb. I dont know where that measurement came from its strange as its not used for anything other than body weight. Maybe some historical medieval story to it lol!!

A stone is 14lbs (lbs = pounds) so 2 stone would be 28lbs. :)

LOL friends from across the pond! That is so cute! And about the stone thing i never would have figured that one out! Good thing I asked :)

Where in the US are you?

I currently reside in Texas. But I'm from California.

I'm from America! I am from Northern California. I have lived in the UK for nearly 10 years. The great thing about stones is that 22 stone sounds a lot smaller than 308 pounds! Lol.

Welcome! This is a great forum, the people are awesome and the advice/information is so helpful. I haven't had surgery yet. There is a great mix of pre and post ops at all points in the journey.

Take care!
Mel
