Hi Pauline
I've just joined this forum, and have been very interested in reading your story so far. Well done on the weight loss so far. I was referred by my GP in August 2010, but only had the appt with the dietician in May this year! My name is on the list to start the weight loss programme (the 7 group meetings) but so far I haven't even got a date for that! Assuming that started in October, then going by your timings any chance of surgery for me wouldn't be until April 2013!

However I am now hoping to go private and so have an appointment to see the specialist nurse at the Spire in Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon. I am hoping that surgery might be available in October or November.

But for the moment, its a waiting game . . . good luck with your continued loss.

hi there i'm from Edinburgh Scotland and i have been reading the posts here for the last few days and have found them to be most interesting and informative
i am in the process of being refered by my GP for wls in what i gather from here to be a very long process but neverless one i have found myself on
probably like most over the years i have done every diet under the sun and more but have come to the conclusion that nothing really works long term so now find myself on this new journey and hopefully a new me

am interested to find out if there is anyone else here from scotland who has already had surgery or waiting to have

looking to getting to know you all so much better
and congratulations to everyone for all your fantastic efforts so far

any advice would be most appriceated

Good luck on your journey hun....and a warm welcome to the best place anywhere for advice.

Take Care

update on seminar
met a few of the team who told us the for's and against for gowing through with surgery
found out that they do all three options at my hospital and it is a joint descision
have to attend six sessions over a twelve week period in which they will help us to prepare for surgery and the after effects of surgery which i thought was a good idea as well as lose another 5% weight
there was about 20 of us there and we were told that we have a 28 days cooling of period for us to talk through with family and friends and look more in detail into what we want from the surgery had a question and answer session at the end as well as an information pack filled with lots of information

havnt changed my mind in any way so will be phoning them monday to get my name on the list for the 6 sessions

i think this next step will take about another 6 months maximum
so hopefully next march i will be done whoo hoo

Fantastic news Drylaw...You'll be on the loser's bench before you know it ! :D

Great news, hopefully things ll start falling into place. Good luck and let us know how u get on x

I've just read through this entire thread. Well done on getting this far, feels like an endless journey doesn't it? I have been waiting since Nov 2009 and still don't have a date yet. Good luck with the rest of your journey x

yes it does seem like an endless journey along a very long and winding road some managed to navigate it a bit quicker others like me take a while longer but hopefully we all get there in the end

im off this week and i usually find it hard if i am at home to give into temptation but gonna try hard this week not too
so how's my morning went so far
decided to set myself little jobs to do that way i will keep busy and not get distracted
will try to follow the same eating plans i do when at work and hopefully not muck up things
have had my breakfast and luch so far with a visit to the bank in between done a small ironing and washed up it rainging quite hard here so not going to be able to go for a walk not that i'd get far with my sore knee but every little helps will just have to take the small bundles of ironing upstairs myself instead of asking hubby to do
have a couple of clearing out jobs still be done so that should keep me busy

Hi, welcome! You will find the forum extremely useful. Good luck xx
I wonder if you could tell me how eating is feeling post op? I am 160KG and I don't want to end up at 14 stones as I would look odd. My Doctor sais that the pocket he makes never changes in size even if the patient is a big boned person..This worries the hell out of me

update

been to get weighed stayed the same again :(
hadnt heard from hospital about Intensive Pre-operative Information Course so asked nuse to check my file to see if they had any letters ....they had but just to say i had attended the seminar and they were waiting to hear from me to say if i wanted to go on the intensive course she suggested that i phone them again just to make sure i was on the list just in case i had slipped through the net as i would be back to square 1
gave them a quick phone to my relief they had me on their list asked if they had a starting date yet and she said it looked like they would start on the 22nd of december but i would get a letter of confirmation so looks like another 7 weeks for the next step .........the course is done over 12 weeks then if everything ok you are put on the surgeons list so looks like no surgery till after march ....
its been a long andd winding road with many upsets and backward steps but it looks like the end is near now just need to try and get some more weight shifted

Well done for ur perseverance and I have NO doubt u ll get there soon. Keep everything cross for u xxx
