update on todays session

well things went well at todays session lost 2 kg which i was well pleased at so only have 3.8 kg to go but still have to do that by the 9th feb which is 4 weeks today but i am hopeful i can do this

we had a talk with the dietician today about starting to make the changes if we havnt already ie. small plates, no drinking while eating, drinking 2 to 2.5 litres, and making the right choices now as this will help us in the future
she gave us a diet sheet to use if we want between now and the liver shrinkage one as this will make that seem easier as we will already be nearly there she also gave us the liver shinkage diet to look at so that we can think about any questions we may have for the next session
was glad to see it was a food one though very limited and it wasnt the milk one (not a milk person)

we also had a talk and slide show from one of the surgeons who will perform the surgery about what they offer and any dissadvantages they each have to help us make the right choice he was very nice and was very approachable
cant believe im nearly there just need to get through this next hoop (3.8kg) and il be there

Good luck Pauline. You have waited so long Hun.

I'm cheering you on to the finishing post girl, GO FOR IT! Not much longer to wait.

X

Good luck Pauline, I have followed your very very long journey. You are so very near goal. Keep going 2012 ll be your year

Good luck Pauline! I am very interested in your journey as I am the same NHS area as you, and i first contacted my GP in August 2010, was referred, and so far haven't even started the dietician weight management bit. Tier 3 is that? In the meantime I was very fortunate to be able to pay and go to the Murrayfield, but as you know it's the same surgeons.

All the best for the next 4 weeks. You can do it.

Crackers x

hi crackers i see you have had the sleeve i am still undecidedhave always wanted the bypass but after speaking to the surgeon on thursday i think id be happy with the sleeve how are you finding it? well done on your weight loss as well

as for the process yes has been very long it took 2 years for my doctor to refer me told me i didnt qualify at the time i probably didnt but now i am probablly 5 st heavier he just kept giving me diet pills which never worked or telling me to follow diet sheeets or join weightwatchers

Hi Pauline
I am very happy with the sleeve. I wasn't keen on the malabsorption part of the bypass and rerouting, and wanted to enjoy food, albeit in smaller quantities.

It is amazing to not feel hungry and for the first time in my life to be able to resist stuffing my face! I can only eat about 2 to 3 tablespoons before being full!

I know that weightloss with the sleeve is a bit slower, but it is still a loss, which is the important thing. I am also hoping it means fewer loose skin issues.

It was mr de beaux who did me, but I have met mr tulloh too. Who were you speaking to?

Cx

hi crackers
it was bruce tulloh who spoke to us he was very nice and very approachable i sort of picked up they do lots more sleeves than bypass's and very little bands
but i have a lot to lose so thought the bypass would be better but would be happy if they thought sleeve was a better option
i have already started to use a smaller plate just to get me used to the smaller portions and am looking forward to the part of not wanting to stuff my face i still have to shift the last of my target weight before the 9th feb to be concidered for the next lot of surgerys if not i will have to complete another 3 month session:(

but im going to be positive and
I WILL ACHIEVE MY TARGET WEIGHT LOSS BY THE AGREED DATE :D

update

well been for my 5th session today and i was one very happy lady as i lost just under 3kg
todays session was all about the pre op diet and the post op diet which we have been given copies off to read
we also met the phsycologist who gave us a talk on the pittfalls and what we might need to work on
whoever said this was an easy ride was havin a laugh never been on such a rollercoaster ride before up and down like a yoyo with a few obstacles thrown in for good measure
but im getting there only have 1 kg to go to meet my target and i still have 2 weeks to do it in
so guys fingers crossed for me
the plan is to do exactly what i have done this last fortnight with a little extra exercise thrown in as well and i should do it

no positive thought

I WILL DO IT

You will no doubt. Keep going xxx

thanks crackers trying to keep positive
as i dont want to muck anything up now having come this far

You won't Pauline. You know how hard your work for this and how much you deserve this so you won't mess it up :)

postman just been

jesus its all happening today the postman has just brought me a letter to say i have an appointment with the psychologist on monday 6th feb
another step about to be achieved :D

Just catching up on your thread. Wow. Full marks for endurance. I wish you well for your appointment on the 6th and well done on what you have achieved to date.

tranquil x

well went to my appointment today with the psychologist and i think it went well she said she thought i was a good candidate for surgery and i was to stay focused as i was nearly there
still have my appointment to go to on thursday and hopefully have lost the last of my target (0.9kg)

also went to a support meeting tonight which was very informative it had a mixture of people there that have had surgery a couple of years ago to a couple that had just done, 1 waiting to get in the next few weeks and to 1 still trying to make the target 5% and 6 of the group that im with
we got lots of info which im still trying to take in they meet every 2 months so will definatley go back as they all seemed very welcoming
