oops sorry Tracey, I misunderstood lol. I thought you were going next monday lol.

Strawberry Twig who posts here went last Friday so you are at the same stage as her. She was also told 5 - 6 months so you are looking at august/september. Im a little bit ahead of you but will be trying to get my surgery pushed back to August due to work commitments.

Did they say what your appointment in May is for? I'm guessing it could be your Pysche appointment as they dont usually give out the pre op appointments until your funding is in place.

You've come to the right place for support.

Hi Sam, Terri, Red and newbies and anyone else (wish I'd have just said hi all now lol)

Terri I can feel your tension in MY stomach, I'd be the same especially this close. Hope u get a date soon x

You looking forward to tomorrow Sam??

Hi Tracy :D

Me and you are at the exact same stage. I had my Initial App on friday last week when I saw Mr Khan, Dr Heartland, Dietitian and Ana.

I was given a Psych app for 5th June, so now i'm just waiting for my MBE saying I have funding and am on the waiting list.

We may even be in at the same time then x

:welcome: Tracy. You are in the right place for support, advice, offloading stress etc.

I suggest having a skim through this thread I know it's massive - some of it is joky stuff, smattered with serious stuff - but a lot of the questions you will ask will have been answered here.

But ask anyway if you haven't got time or CBA!

Terri - :party0016:

Spoke to Dr.Hartlands secratary...apparently i am not having my pre-op in April now i have to follow the "new rules" and discuss my options first and then wait a further 8 weeks after that appointmetn for my pre-op.

GREAT!! :(

sorry to hear that Rach. Have they applied for your funding yet?

No it hasnt been applied for yet and wont be until i go to my appointment in April and say...yes...i want the surgery...:(

That doesnt make sense Rach. Why are they making your experience different to everyone elses???

I can't stay on long my husband is nagging me like a biatch... Anyway regarding Telford and Wrekin I can't say for sure if you will get funding as they have two good surgeons that i know of.. Mr Robert Diggory at the Apley clinic And Mr Suggurdson. It all depends if your PCT has a contract with Walsall. But I'll be honest the team at Walsall have a pretty good idea of who funds and who will get funding... It's very unlikely they will take for granted you getting funding like they kinda so with the Stoke and Brummies...

I would Imagen if they felt there may be a funding issue then they will tell you. One way to find out is to phone your PCT you can get the number from your GP receptionist and just ask to be put through to the person who commotions funding for surgery.. And ask do they fund WLS at Walsall if they say no ask who they fund it and it so who with that way at least you can get back to your GP and ask him to make a referral to the relevant surgeon...

Hope this info helps xxx

Is any one else up for Aqua aerobics tonight at Wyndley starts at 8.30 ? Natalie bless her has a ear infection so we have arraigned something for next week.... ???? I'd really like to go but don't have the confidence to go it alone lol poor excuse i know

sorry to hear that Rach, it will soon be here its roughly about a 6 and a half month process from start to the op date. You have lots of things to keep you occupied, with buying your first house and getting married - for the next couple of months you can put your all into these and then your op will follow once these have been sorted - buying a house is stressful enough without the thought of having a major op part way through.

Cant do it tonight Alexa sorry. Poss next week though.

That doesnt make sense Rach. Why are they making your experience different to everyone elses???

maybe its to do with the new funding criterias that some pcts are bringing in for
april. Maybe its a new system to try and ensure that peoples journeys follow the same sort of structure and timescales?

Could be, but Rach had her initial consultation in Feb (I think) unless the hospital had been told that Rach's PCT had run out of funding perhaps for current financial year. Also people who have been since Rach (twig and onceknightly) havent had to have a second appointment.

I wonder if Sue has heard any more from hospital as she had same experience as Rach didnt she.

some are post op, some are pre-op...oh and some are just dangling. Dont ask, its a long story, LOL.

We're the danglers then - you and I!!!
