thats not a bad idea terri.

A mom at the school had her op 18mths ago and she used it the week befor eher op and she said her wounds cleared up really well and hardly needed dressing and if they do mrsa swabs it would be a shame to have it postsponed if I can help it.

yeah, one of the complications people seem to report as well is infected wounds after the op. If your skin is kept as clean as possible thats got to be a help I would think.

I just called Walsall and spoke to Lesley (yeah I am being inpatient lol) they have only referrals left to arrange appointments for and mine isn’t one of them and I am not on their system.
Lesley has told me to call my doctors and get them to fax it over…and they are shut..doh!
So I will have to wait until tomorrow, I am still feeling pretty relaxed about it all, I am just trying to take each stage as it comes.

I don’t think that this is going to be as straight forward as I had hoped but oh well…It WILL happen lol.

:D

Rach, thats exactly what happened to me. I do have to say that the admin team at walsall really let the hospital down IMO.

Get your doc to fax it this morning and then ring lesley later to make sure she has received it. You might be lucky like me then and get called in for an appointment that day.

Keep at it chick.

I just called the hospital to try to speak to Tracey Lowe to make sure my funding request is being processed. She's not there and the lady who answered Traceys extension said I need to call back and speak to Tracey, but not to panic as it takes months between seeing doctor hartland and getting funding approved.

So, I'll try and get hold of Tracey again tomorrow.

I will be calling them tomorrow morning and DEMANDING it to be sent lol.

I just want to hear that…YES you are approved and then the YES you can have funding lol and then I will be ok lol..

Re: Hibiscrub & MRSA. here's a post I made in November on a Pre-op tests thread:

Slightly off at a tangent but still on.. kind of. Re: MRSA. You can buy Hibiscrub and do a pre-hospital shower at home to eliminate MRSA. Lots of people carry it, so it's a good way of getting rid before pre-assessment and going in for the op. I will find the link and post up if anyone is interested. And no, I don't work for Hibiscrub! ;)

Here it is: http://hibihealth.com/index.php/hibiscrub/http://www.hibihealth.com/reduce.php

yes after the 2nd pre op if everything ok the next step is surgery dates.

Did I hear someone say they do mrsa screening at the manor when they do yoiur bloods at your 1st pre op?

They closed Swan ward this week because there was an infection on the ward, so I had to stay the entire time in HDU.
So they're always checking for problems and they did check me for MRSA

Hi, Rach,
Have you got a contact number for Lesley? I'd like to find out if I'm on their system. I'm feeling really down about this now. It seems like I went to the gp ages ago but still not heard anything
I tried to phone Appointments today at Walsall Manor. Not sure if that's the route, but didn't know what else to try. I phoned Mr. Khan's secretary yesterday to see if I could find out what I needed to do, but she's out of the office until Monday. I'm starting to feel like it will never happen now.

The number that i was kindly given last night :D

Is: 01922 656520

Good luck

Does anyone know roughly how long you are in hospital for with the bypass?
xx

Had some good news today my consultant at new cross is not happyvwith leaving my gall bladder in till march so he is putting in a request for mr khan to to my surgery sooner so hopefully I should be having it done soon but I have been waiting well over 14 months since been referred from doctor rachealbif I was u I will keep ringing the doctors because they did that to me and I had to keep on them

Did anyone get a reaction from people like...ooh a bypass is too much and you should just lose weight the "normal" way?

xx

I have called my doctors and asked them to fax over my refferal apparently they are doing it now (as i was on the phone) so fingers crossed lol.

Morning Rach, so far apart from you guys on here, Ive only told people that I know I can trust to support me. So thats my hubby obviously, and my mum, 2 of my sisters and my best friend. If they have any concerns they havent told me, but I have told them to look at the BOSPA site if they dont understand the operation or want to learn more about it. Whether they will look or not I dont know.

I dont intend to tell other people until just before I go to hospital. I can be doing with peoples negative comments, but to be fair, I think most of the negative comments come from people who know nothing about it but have seen horror stories in magazines etc.

give it an hour and then ring Lesley. Say you dont mean to be a nuisance but just want to be reassured that it has arrived.

My boss knows (as she needed to for time off etc) my best friend knows and my partner and his family. And my mom. Oh and my really good friend at work (who also needs to know because of swaping work loads etc)

Im getting negative remarks from everyone apart from Adam and his family and my best friend Emma (she cried when i told her but she said i have to do what makes me happy)

I am just annoyed that people think it is so easy to just lose it "normally" like i havnt tried that already??

It just gets me down that my own mom doesnt support my decision either...

Ahh well I NEED to do this, so it is going to have to be done!
