What a great idea.
Hello everyone I’m John and I live in Wombourne, I’m under Staffordshire PCT my BMI was 59.6 and I weighed in at 178kg (28 stone) at my first visit to the Manor to see Dr Hartland.
I have high blood pressure, type 2 Diabetes, aching legs and back obviously and I’m 59 years old
My GP had never had anyone ask for this surgery before so he didn’t know what to do, he then wrote to Mr Khan for advice, when he received a reply he saw me again about 2 weeks later, after which he referred me to the Manor, that was the 8th August 2008.
My first appointment was with Dr Hartland only and that was on September 22nd.
This is the point the Manor applied for my funding and is the longest wait I had.
My second appointment was to have all the medical tests and fill out lots of forms with a nurse, this was on 14th November.
Mr third appointment was with Mr Youseff and that was on the 2nd December.
My letter offering me a surgery date came on the 5th December and that date was to be 17th of January 2009.
And that’s when I had it done
I never met Mr Khan, Ms Heitmann, Ana Elshaw, Georgia Windrass or Dr Kendric.
Mr Khan came to shake my hand in the corridor as I walked in to theatre, Ana Elshaw and Dr Hartland came to give me my medication on the last day as I was leaving the hospital and Georgia Windrass phoned me at home the following day to tell she would be sending me some diet information in the post, the rest of the team I have never met.
