Hun as far as I know, Sarahjj is the only person to have recieved her appointment in a week out of all the people who post on here. I dont know how she got thru the system so quickly - just luck I guess.
Please try to keep your chin up xx
I seem to recall she said she got a cancellation. I might be wrong but am sure she'll pop up soon to clarify.
4 - 6 weeks following GP referral is the norm. Then there's the funding wait.
I was ok waiting after the GP referral because I didn't know whether I would meet the criteria or not (in my heart and mind I knew I did, but I still wasn't convinced).
My GP rang me 2 - 3 weeks after I first asked him and said I was being referred. And around 3 weeks after that call I got a letter from WM to attend outpatients. The letter arrived on the 5th Nov for an appointment on the evening of 6th Nov!
After my initial visit to the GP, I put it out of my mind, because until I'd been to the hospital, it didn't seem real.
It's the wait after that initial WM appointment that got to me. I was ok until Christmas then started to get impatient because I didn't understand the pathway and therefore what was happening.
I rang WM and found out that my funding wasn't applied for until 22nd December. So that was just over 6 weeks after my initial WM appt. Unfortunately it was sent to the wrong PCT and I only found this out after chasing it myself the end of last week!
So, I'd just make sure the GP gets the referral off, wait 2 - 3 weeks then give Lesley at WM outpatients a ring. You never know, you may get a cancellation like sarahhj or Sam!
