The final decision is with the patient. However, if you have a band and it doesn't work for you, some PCT will not fund further surgery i.e. a bypass.

The options are given at the initial appointment and you have the opportunity to talk them through thoroughly.

Have checked on the bospa website and they recommend a band below BMI 50 and a bypass bmi 40 - 60. So they may say they would prefer to do a bypass. So make sure you research them both and make a case for and against for both and take it with you to show you have done your research.

I think that i need to have a good long look at all of them and see what i think is best for me, i am not much of a "sweet" eater...

It is more so what i eat (fatty foods....uummm chips!!!)

When i eat healthy and good i eat a lot of it...but if i eat really bad stuff...i dont really have that much of it...If that makes sense?

xx

Cheers, Rach.

I had small brown envelope from Walsall this morning. The letter was dated 15th Jan and confirms that I am now on the waiting list. It also states that the current wait is 20 weeks and apologises with the usual assurance that the hospital is doing all it can to bring the wait time down.

By my calculation, I should be done by 4th June. I'm now going to drive everyone mad and add another ticker to my signature.

That is amazing news hun, it really is... Have you been approved for funding already then?

xx

Yes. Finally! My first appt at WM was on 6th Nov. My funding was applied for on 22nd Dec, except, I found out after chasing it myself the week before last, that the application had been sent to the wrong PCT.

Once she had emailed it over to the correct PCT, the response came back within 24 hours.

You can never be sure with WM though, the journey time from initial GP referral through to initial WM appointment and even surgery varies wildly. i.e. some have had their initial appt. after or same time as me and have had or are about to have surgery.

Still, I cannot and will not complain as there are many who use this forum who waited much longer and some are still waiting.

And at the end of the day, it will happen and we are all striving for the same end!

I am really chuffed for you, i cant help but keep getting upset about all of this. All i keep thinking is what if....what if... you know??

But i am going to be good, and i have great support for you guys and my fiance.

I havnt yet told my parents as i know they wount approve, but this is my last resport and i want and need this very much

Yeah. The next brown envelope should come in about 2 weeks and give you details of your preops.

'Morning Terri!

Yup, I have been using your dateline as a yardstick because gallstones aside, our experiences have been similar thus far.

Am just going to bimble along now as I have done all I can do and am glad I did it. I must now concentrate on getting back into work!

brilliant news on your LBE this morning hun. Finally things are moving for you.

Is it at all worth phoning walsall to say you could take short notice op at all if they get any cancellations do you think?

Red, I can't help but notice that your deadline is very close to Take That. I'm kindly offering my services to go in your place should you be on the table at the time :D Obviously I'd only be going as a huge favour to you and would get absolutely no enjoyment from it whatsoever. I'm nice like that.

Tes, being disabled I would need a carer.

Red, we are only trying to help you on your journey :angeldevil: it's a truly virtuous thing we are offering.
