Hey Smiler

Good to chat to you again last night hun and hope your Mum is a bit brighter today, thinking of you xxx

Hi, I took my laptop actually which was great as I said goodnight to the kids and my partner on webcam and it helped pass the time as I went in the night before. Slippers, dressing gown, loads of knickers and a change of clothes, obviously wash stuff etc. Mobile ..I dont think there was anything I wshed I had taken that I didnt. I felt too rough to put my make up on when I went home though.

wet wipes and lip salve were my absolute musts and I was very grateful for them- apart from wash stuff and nightwear did not need much else

As I actually started this thread I thought I'd better add what I took into hospital! lol

Baby wipes
Lip Balm
Hygenic hand wash (the no water required gel)
Fan with a water spray
Books
Magazines
MP3 player
DS Lite
Toothpaste & Toothbrush
Mouthwash
Sanitary towels (yes I was on the lovely TOTM)
My own small towel
PJ's
Nightie
Slippers
Dressing Gown
Sugar free Ribena light cartons

What did I use:

Baby wipes
Lip balm
Hygenic hand wash (the no water required gel)
PJ's
Slippers
Dressing Gown
Book (only on day of discharge)
Fan with water spray (godsend when I felt sick and faint)
Toothpaste & Mouthwash
Sugar free Ribena for when on free fluids (the water tasted awful)

yup i didn't use the ds or the books, only used the fan on the day of the op and that was terry using it on me! Wish I'd taken some ribena lol, tepid water was blurrgghhhhhhh

Hi!

Just thought I would add my little bit!! I took all the usual stuff into hospital with me but I was given an Evian Water Spray in a can, which was fantastic! I think its similar to the magicool (sp?) that I have seen advertised on tele. I sprayed it over face and body when I was hot, and we were allowed to spray a little into our mouths as you get very dry! Also I am glad I took anti-bacterial hand gel for after using the bed pan! No catheter for me. After about 12 hours I could go to the loo but I still used the gel after handwashing. I loved my ipod too, had my favourite shows on it. I was in a Belgium hospital so the tele was no good!!

Now i can add my little bit too lol

Make sure you take a pair of slippers, i didn't and just took my quicksilver flip flops, ended up with cold feet sitting around, remember the floors are concrete and cold !
I took my ipod, PSP, book etc and ended up just watching the tele constantly, before the op the tele was just a blurry diversion, post op all i wanted to do was sleep.

Bit of a ramble here but I found an extensive list of 'must haves' for the hospital but, despite taking most of it, didn't use half (highlighted what I DID need/use!);

Hi ditzyangeluk

I have looking into what I need to take and I have to say your list is absolutely fantastic, there are so many things you forget like cash, paperwork etc.

Just wanted to say thank you.

This is a great thread. I know I'll be in for at least 4-5 days so I'll just take a few more items of loose clothes. I think I'll also take flip flops for the shower just in case. I don't know how clean that will be, so better to have something for my feet.
Ta all!
