Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

Good morning all,

Hope you are all doing well and have got over Easter and your bugs. Well I have my date for my balloon to come out (24th May). In some ways I am worried as I don't want to fall back into old habits but on the other hand what I have gone through the last 6 months I wouldn't dare!
I need to make the last few weeks count I am down to 91kg from 110kg just need to get under the 90 and I'll be happy.

Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday

X

Well done!! It is daunting having it taken out but I've got to admit sleeping on 1 side and burping got tiresome lol I still don't eat big it has helped that!!! It's breaking the other habits I struggle withbut I always did. Good luck!!

Guyss ... Is it bad to sleep on stomach? I sleep on my right and wake up on my belly! ? am I doing any damage ? To the balloon? I even forget it's in there at times now. Is this normal?!

My good friend is considering a ballooon
What can you all tell me about it warts n all please ?
I had the sleeve thanks x

Adrienne, I recommend reading this thread from the start (or having your friend do so) and you'll gain all the information you need. It's all there; from insertion to portion sizes to eggy burps and everything in between.

There's so many plusses and negatives it depends what your friend wants. Has she a lot to lose and is her problem portion size?

I have been and bought those lighter life 5:2 meals today it says on the 500 day 4 of their packs are correct calories etc. it's worth a go

Thanks all, I will ask her to read it from the beginning, just thought you could give me a synopsis for her, she has an appointment booked with the same surgeon I had.
She doesn't have a huge amount to lose, but she is a yo yo dieter, similar to me, we hsve tried everything over the years and always put it back on

She will no doubt read through all the posts, thanks again xx

I found it corrected my portion control but my bad habits sneak back in and mine been out 6 months now. It's a tool not a long term solution

So today is 2 months since insertion I've gone from 122kg to 109kg. Oh and I blew up my treadmill LITERALLY! Any recommendations for treads are welcome! X

Ok, so im just back from seeing the dietician and all ive done is cry. Im 5ft5 and 18 stone. I,know the balloon isnt a magic trick and i have to work with it but basically been told it will be a waste of my time and i would lose the same weight if i was following a diet without the balloon. So confused what to do

I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask which doctor you saw? Sounds like my encounter with dr Ashton. It is a tool it's isn't magic and it's isn't easy but I think it's worth it. It makes you more determined to succeed. At the end of the day you wouldn't be looking into the balloon if conventional diets had helped etc. x

The balloon isn't magic. U still need to diet. I think that the thing is when you have it in and it costs so much you do tend to stick to it however it does slip and old habits don't die. I presume you have dieted. Maybe try what doc says for a few months and then if doesn't work you can say I will av balloon now.

I'm in the treadmill market... But not until we move in July - we've got no room now. Planning on getting a 3br in July and the spare room (planned for a baby) will house my treadmill. I've come to terms with the the fact that I'll never workout outside whilst we live here; it's too darn hot. But, I do want a TV mounted in front of my treadmill ;)

As for the balloon... I've dieted over and over... It goes off, and comes back on plus a bit. Bad habits will never go but I have better control now. Have I lost as much as I want? No. Do I feel better? Yes! Is it worth the money? Yes! Is my BMI *almost* normal? Yes. Is it all the balloon? No. It's a tool, it's a helping hand, it's a reminder, it's a make-you-puke-your-guts-out-and-have-eggy-burps-balloon. I am happy with my decision. I'm content... but that's my choice, my work, my sweat/tears/vomit, my result. Don't let a (expletive) dietitian dictate your life. Hope that helps.
