Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

Great job on getting into the 15's, Kismet! I just left the dietitian. She has me down 10 Kg's (22 lbs)! She's really impressed with my progress. (I'd be down 11 Kg's if I was allowed to weigh in naked like I do at home :)) Of that loss, 7 Kg's were pure fat. My BMI is now 30 and I'm on the precipice of no longer being obese! I'm on a new diet plan now where I don't mix food groups but stay at 1,000 calories a day. I guess I'll start Thurs/Friday as I'm feeling better on liquids but still want to rest my tummy for a few more days. My weight loss goal in the next four weeks is 3 Kg's. Hopefully I can do a bit more as we leave for vacation a few days after my next weigh in. Fingers crossed!

Well done neisie, that's great news. It's so satisfying reaching those mile stones. I do feel like I've turned a corner and feel so much better in myself. Managed a little risotto and steamed salmon last night with no reflux.....happy days lol
I have been told my diet is ok it's just the portion size that I need to control hence the balloon. I'm well within the 1000 calories a day so need to step that up to ensure I'm not constantly under.
Well time to hit the road and go to work

Thanks Kismet! I'm quite pleased with myself! Glad to hear that your dinner went well and that your reflux is getting better! I assume that as our weight goes down all these little bothers will become less of a nuisance. I'm the same as you - I eat healthy things, just massive portions. I used to swim 7 hours a day, for many, many years, and when I cut down my workouts I still ate like an elite athlete - thus the weight gain. I'm using this balloon to retrain my mind to understand full/hungry.

Hi everyone
So sorry haven't been on till now. I have had a really terrible time and I am just now starting to stop vomit and feel more human. This last week has been like a torture and if I could have took the balloon out myself I would have. The only thing stopping my ringing up the consultant and demanding it out was the thought of the endoscopy again without sedation which was traumatic and I am still having flash backs.
Anyway onwards and upwards. No vomit today. I have been out of bed for 2 hours now just about to go in shower and back to bed I'm so tired. I have managed to eat a slice of toast and a hard boiled egg this morning so really proud of myself.
I will spend some more time catching up later and thank you for all the enquiries really touched me

Woody xx

Woody!!!!!! So happy to hear that you're okay! We were worried!

I can't imagine the endoscopy awake - you are quite brave!

Glad to hear that you've made it through the worst. It only gets better from here!

Glad to hear from you! Stay well :)

Thank you guys means a lot.
I don't know about being brave re endoscopy as I didn't have a choice even the nurses seemed surprised. I think when I have it removed I am going to have to insist on something though xx

I know what you mean. I also did it without sedation. I was fine with the camera, it was the balloon going down where I had trouble. I had flash backs when anyone asked me about it, but I'm ok now. I'm just dreading it coming out now.

It was the whole thing for me. He was far from gentle.
Anyway onwards and upwards
I weighed myself today and I've lost 16 lbs I know it won't continue this fast but feels fab almost worth the nightmares lol

Xx

Holy lord! 16lbs?!?! In a week! Wow! You guys are all killing it! Congrats, Woody!

Barb... How are you doing? You've been quiet...

Wow woody that's incredible. My consultant said he wouldn't dream of doing the procedure unless under a general anaesthetic....and that goes for it coming out too.

I wasn't under general anesthesia - they said that was only "if necessary." However, the sedation was more than enough for me. I remember nothing. I would have probably punched someone if I wasn't sedated.

Managed 90 min of circuit training plus 90 min of Bikram today. Behold my sexy "after" look. It takes hard work to get my makeup to look so bad! ;)

On my new food plan starting today. Cut out almost all the carbs... It's tough but a few days in and it'll even out. Dietitian only wants me to have carbs through veggies or oats in the morning. Low carb is the best for PCOS so no complaints here.

How's everyone else doing today?

I am feeling a bit more positive today, upped my food levels though still eating like a sparrow lol long may it continue lol. I am feeling hunger but nothing like before so so far so good xxx
Is the dietician part of your balloon or are you seeing them separately?
Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Hi guys,
Neisie you look lovely and well done to be still standing. My sister has pcos, such a horrid condition. Woody, glad you're feeling brighter. I am 3 weeks in tomorrow. Haven't felt hungry since the procedure so have to make the effort to eat as I could quiet easily skip meals which is not good. I have dietician, nurse and psychologist in my package.
Will let you know how tomorrow's weigh in goes

Thanks, Woody! Gotta get my daily burn in :) I do well on low carbs so I'm looking forward to dropping some pounds with the change in diet and increase in exercise. Though my bestie is coming out next week from the States and I'm throwing a 30 person Thanksgiving brunch! Protein, protein, protein!

Glad to hear that you're eating more. It's nerve-wracking at first but you find what works well for you quite quickly. How much do you have in your balloon? Is it fully inflated?

My payment included insertion, removal, follow-up surgeon appointments, and as many dietitian appointments as wanted/needed for 12 months. The only extra costs I have are for balloon fills.

Kismet good luck with weigh in

Neisie my balloon has been filled by 700 mls not sure if that is full it sounds and feels a lot lol
