Well done Neisie you looking amazing xx
I saw gp today and he is very happy with me yipee xx I was worried I would get told off for losing too much weight lol
And I've lost another 3 lbs
I really need to sort out some before pictures xx

Hi pilar I'm from durham
Which hospital are you being referred to?
As said before google is a great tool and there are a lot of people from north east on here so may even be seeing the same consultant

Sometimes I seen dr in hexham general hospital and sometimes north Tyneside hospital
On December I going to Tyneside to see dr

Looking good Neisie :) well done

Woody sounds like you have the unrefillable Orbera balloon. NHS don't do the Spatz type.

Pilar I didn't have to do an overnight stay although I was a day patient for nearly a full twelve hours which I hadn't reckoned on... Poor hubby was left to twiddle thumbs while I slept off the sedation whoops. However I'm in Scotland so this may not be how your provider does things. I didn't have any procedures before it was inserted either but again different areas have different procedures ;)

Thanks Femfrankie
I was wondering what the difference was. You were so lucky to have sedation though, were you fully asleep through the procedure?

Pilar I didn't know you could be under two different consultants I would have thought it would be better to stick with one. There are definitely people on here from north Tyneside though try looking and posting on the gastric bypass sites as well as they might not follow this thread

Thanks Femfrankie

I was lightly sedated woody but don't remember anything of the procedure which I'm thankful for. I don't have the balloon anymore though. I had the orbera for six months and was bypassed a week after it was removed. Lost five stone with it in place.. Can't say it was an enjoyable six months but it was needs must I'm afraid. X

Thanks ladies! Seeing the pics really help. Three people have commented on my weight loss in the last two days :) Off to an afternoon of polo and high tea :)

Thanks for that Femfrankie
I going to insist on sedation for taking it out
I know what you mean about not being pleasant but as you say needs must. You lost a lot of weight with it well done I'm hoping for something similar. Did your weight loss continue after the surgery as it had with balloon or was it different??

Your experience sounds awful hun and don't blame you for requesting sedation for the removal.
Pre bypass I lost 8st in total and was told by my surgeon to expect my weight loss to be slower now due to the fact that I had lost so much. So far it hasn't slowed but I know that at some point it will. I'm now 3months post op and have lost a further 3 & half stone since the balloon removal with another 4 to go. I will say however that I am enjoying food more now than I did with the balloon as I had reflux 24/7 with it in place. As a result my diet was super boringly bland. The second week of my preop diet was heaven as I could have spices and flavours again :rotflmao: tomato soup was divine! My bypass has been a breeze compared to my balloon but it did help me establish food disciplines before my op :)

Thanks Femfrankie

Yes I know but I have one the same dr but sometimes is faster to see my dr in Tyneside and sometimes in Hexham

Thanks Hun you have done amazingly well I can only hope to do as well. I am also learning a lot with my diet so that has to be good. Going to weigh myself again today to see how I'm doing. I'm starting to have more energy so that's positive. At this point could not imagine being able to exercise would probably pass out lol. I'm trying to make sure I have at least a carb portion and protein portion in each meal and that seems to help .

Well done neisie :)

Not enjoying this journey at the mo. Seem to be having 3 to 4 really good days then 2 miserable days with lots of reflux and vomiting. Very unpredictable when it's going to strike. Taking all my meds when I should and can't relate it to food. At a conference in London for the next few days and feeling delicate.

So sorry to hear! May I recommend papaya enzyme tablets? I take them for indigestion and boo-boo belly, plus they're yummy - they sell them at Holland & Barrett. I vommed last week off of 2 Tbsp of hummus. It's very unpredictable, but if the scale is going down if say it's worth it! Keep your chin up!
