August 2014 Surgeries

Hi guys, I got to St. Anthony's at 6:45am and was told I was second on the list. The surgeon came to see me and told me there was a chance he may not be able to do the sleeve if there were too many adhesions from my previous surgery.

He did say however, that if this was the case, he would put a balloon in my stomach so I could continue to lose weight and then refer me for open surgery.

I was gutted and immediately crossed my fingers.

Then I was bumped down to no 3 and eventually went into theatre at 12.30.

I was in quite bit of pain in recovery but they were quick with the pain relief and 15 mins later, I was comfortable.

Back in my room and I immediately went for a wee and was told that the surgeon had managed to cut the adhesions and do the sleeve.

One day later and I'm free of the drain and canulars and I'm now sitting here bored and looking forward to going home tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting :)

Really glad that you were able to be done, and not an open procedure! Welcome to the losers bench!

Hi everyone,

I came on Saturday early evening sorry I've not had a chance to post on here yet.

Everything went well with the op and my stay in the L&D was great. I came home with a huge bag of medication and have been very grateful for the pain meds. I have a constant winded feeling in my chest from all the internal bruising. Just finished easy 3 post op and I've managed a glass of milk, smooth mango yogurt, glass of water, a vanilla slim fast and a glass of sugar free squash. Was so nice to be able to add different liquids in for a selection of flavours.

I'm still getting rid of the 'wind' from the op too which I'm sure if it Carey's on I will be flying lol

Good luck to the remaining August opera looking forward to you joining us on the other side.

Hi girls. I'm five days pits op and today is the first day I have been totally wind free. But it does ease off day by day

Good luck to you all still waiting xx

Hi everyone

How is everyone doing? I am now 5 days post op and finally feel all the GA is out of my system. Still a little windy and not yet 'been' either even though I've been having 2 senna tablets and lactolose every night since I've came home on Saturday. I'm wondering if its because there is such little going in that there isn't anything to come out yet?!

I'm off out with my boys and mum 2moro to finish the school shopping off. Looking forward to going out but know I will be tired too. Has anyone be given guidance on when they can start driving after a bypass?

Good luck to those of you still waiting to go in xxx

I'm 18 days post op and started driving yesterday although I believe you can when you can conduct an emergency stop.
I didn't want to drive before yesterday as I had such a jelly brain and was very tired.
Im on my second day back to work and have just got back from a morning in London with the kids (I'm a nanny) and although I'm not in any pain I'm exhausted now! Thank god for nap time!
I found shopping just needed water and rest stops in cafés.

Hi all, I'm 4 days post op, still feeling windy and getting major cravings for food :( I want everything I can't have, but the good news is, at least it's for savoury food and not junk. I'm also sick of sipping water and nas squash - can I sip milk instead, or is this considered food?

I'm like this too! Try tesco own ice Lollys very nice!
I've found robinsons fruit shoots the NAS really easy to sip sip and can get the 200ml in relatively quickly if I'm in need of increasing my liquids.
I'm on purée now and still dreaming about all the dinners I can eat in the mashed/ solid phase
Like you it's all savoury and most of it healthy!

Good luck Ryver. Let us know how you get on

Kezzy you are up soon too now...good luck

Glad all the August girls are doing ok. I'm a week today post op. I have been out with the dogs a couple of times today, came home both times and promptly fell asleep. Don't know if I'm overdoing it or not. Just feel I need to get active again ASAP
