christening spoon?

Hi all, I'm looking for a gift for my children for their christening day ( and as a keep sake)and have come over an apostle spoon?!?!?!?!? The Advert looks good and the apostle is St peter, my question is this.... Is it in anyway linked with "Bad" stuff ie is there somesort of myth about them.. I'm really ocd about "bad luck"stuff or omens so does anyone have one or know what they are? I have www searched it, but nothing coming back on the omen side of things x Just thought you could help out if you knew about them x many thanks x

hi, just wanted to say , i dont know the whole story but ive never heard any bad stories about apostle spoons ,, its where the saying born with a silver spoon comes from,and spoons were given as gifts at weddings and births, normally if the baby had the same name ,or to hope the baby would have the good virtues of named spoon, i know they come orinally in sets but got split over the years ,and modern ones are available,obviously various ones with different engravings to suit each name ,,,im sure its more a lucky thing than a bad omen,,(i know there are some with judas on which id prob not give as a gift though!lol ,im sure someone wiser will tell you more ,but id not worry , my hubby has his still and its lovely to have all these years later to give to our grandchild when born hopefully this month whether theres a christening or not its a lovely keepsake x

Thanks Starr x I'm glad there not "bad luck" and agree with the leaving judas one alone lol, its strange but ireally like them and then read that st peter had his head chopped off!!! nice! but apperantly he was important in the church so i will defo be getting them its ment to date from the late 1800 to early 1900 era? we shall see.....just wanted to get them something from their mummy and daddy that was a little bit special and as you say a keep sake to look back on or pass down to their children, just like your husband has done, i think its lovely and now i know someone who has one then it makes it sit rigth in my head xxx hope your keeping well xx
