Debs ramblings about her NHS sleeve...

You poor thing, nothing worse than a kitchen in your lounge, hope it gets sorted soon and your op goes ahead x

Oh Lord, you poor thing I hope you can get some order back soon. Better news on the vits front:)

drum roll..................

and the result of the 3rd swab is in - I am officially MRSA free - the blighters have left my snout or died there - who knows!

Bookings called and confirmed my op will go ahead on Wednesday 10th June 2015 - I am relieved and thankful this ruddy liver diet phase will soon end and the next bit will soon be here.

I know the 4 weeks liquids, operation pain, and self injecting and all the other things wont be a walk in the park - but at least they signify progress on the pathway.

I am just trudging forward and climbing those hurdles and trying to just beat one phase at a time.

I remain very hungry - even the dog gives me a wide birth at the moment in case I eat him!!!!

I am very, very thankful for todays news. Phew!

Hi Jackie.

I am ok in a mental sense but I am overwhelmed by the destruction at home due to the water leak. The kitchen is still in the front lounge and the rear lounge has been pushed to one side to allow the plaster to be smashed off. Plaster dust is now throughout the house. Quite incredulous how messy it is. I am feeling this is not s good environment for post op recovery and rest! But it is what it is and cannot be helped. In some ways it means I have no capacity to fret!

I was in the roof on Sunday sorting the guttering so I wouldn't have time to think.

Funny for my neighbours I bet!

Thanks again for asking xx

So last day of the LRD is today. I've seemingly been on it for forever. I am very nervous about tomorrow but very anxious to be at the next stage of the journey as this phase has been forever!

I am not in the tranquil place I want to be either due to the water leak and my daughter being slap in the middle of her GCSEs. The house is a shambles. No room on the ground floor is usable. Both reception rooms are out of use - one is filled with the contents of the kitchen. The other is being worked on. The kitchen is half tore out and I have no oven or grill as it is a built in one and that's where the leak was so have been removed. The plaster was knocked of yesterday and every room has plaster dust film. It gets everywhere.

BUT it's tomorrow! And I am pushing on as I am terrified funding will change for people my weight and I would like to benefit from surgery if possible. I still feel guilty that so many have to self fund. I myself considered it as the NHS wait for me has been so long. I was referred to tier 3 back in early 2012. Self pay would change my 3 year wait to 6 weeks I suspect!

I've used the time to have many a last fling with food. To research and to really think how serious this step is.

I've spent time on forums for wls regain and can see plenty of examples of where the patient and the surgery have not worked well and sad outcomes have ensued. I have no guarantee that will not be me. My bravado pre op may be post op failure. But I will only know if I try.

I hope not to write - 3 stone gone forever - as I doubt I will ever be sure I will not at some stage be overpowered by my food demons. I will try to keep fighting them obviously. But I will always consider myself a food abuser who is in remission.

I start the surgery phase tomorrow. Will I have to move my diary I wonder?!?! I had hope to get my BMI under 38 for the start but it was not to be. So I start at 17 stone 6lbs a better place than my highest of 19 stone 3lbs.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and chided and bolstered me over the last 5 months. I am grateful of your words and kind messages. I wish everyone well in their own endeavours.

I will update you next I suspect when my stomach has mostly gone !

Wow Debs!

Can't believe how fast your op seems to have come around..

I'll be thinking of you and waiting eagerly for your updates..!

Good luck Debs :) :)

Tbh I have more fear this time than when I had my band fitted, but it will soon pass, as soon as they pump me full of drugs :D but this afternoon I went out and had lasagne, what can happen? Was a parting gift to my upper intestines. :8855:

Of the top of my head I was referred in September 14 and first appointment was the twenty something of January. That appointment was being weight, BP, urine etc and meeting a surgeon and nurse and dietician. I had spent 2 years in a weight loss tier 3 program so my file showed endless visits to a dietician, doctor and psychiatrist so that meant I was straight through that section. No weight loss required as I had done that in tier 3. Next I saw the surgeon and the psychiatrist on the same day. I'd been under the same psych in tier 3 so he had nothing to worry about. By March it was all done and funding was agreed. Pre op next. ECG, blood tests etc. then just wait for a date - it was originally May but my nose bugs set me back. Please don't worry - there are no tricks. It's simply time consuming and nerve wracking but very achievable. if you've not done a tier 3 programme I expect they will set you a weight loss target and check you lose and maintain that. Good luck x

Thanks for taking time to reply can you explain a little abiut what tier 3 is. Iv done slimming world, weight watchers, juice plus, slimfast, qnd been prescribes reductil 6 years ago which is now band, i lost 5 stobe taking that but then had another baby and weight has jus kept creeping up. Iv also had orlistat would any of this count x

Good luck Debs. It's finally here :) x
