Help!!!!

And me four.

My provider's prescribed supplements are every day 2 x Pregaday, 2 x VitD, 2 x Sanatogen A-Z Complete, 2 x Calcichew D3 Forte.

Yes, I did feel v weak in the first few weeks post op but all protein shakes etc were banned. I got through without keeling over, including going back to two Aquafit classes a week after three weeks - provider said I needed to wait until the fluid stage was done as I would not have the calories onboard for vigorous exercise. Meals should be consumed according to his 'rule of granny's teaplate' - half tea plate of protein, a quarter of green veg and quarter of carbs. Eat all the protein first, then the greens, then the carbs. Chew 20 times, and wait 20 seconds after swallowing before taking the next mouthful. Stop when you feel full - do not wait for it to go down, discard instead. Drink either 30 mins before or after eating, never with. This is for life. Yes, it is hard but theyz da rules. xx

OH is taking raspberry Keytones also, so I will leave him to it......the guru has spoken! Thanks Yve xxx
not a problem hon. Just glad my advice was taken in the spirit it was intended.

I order mine from the states. Quest bars - expensive but fab nutritional profile. My provider says no too because early on they want you to get used to eating and planning meals etc. further on they're a very good idea.

I have a couple of Atkins bars that I only ever have if I am in a situation where I can not get a healthy meal or when I can feel my blood sugars getting low because I have got caught out and again can get anything to tide me over. My provider frowns on this and the use of any protein shakes but as far as the "bars" go to me they are invaluable on those very rare occasions and can easily be put in a handbag or pocket.

Thanks ladies. I've been struggling to find something to eat when I'm caught out on the hop. I'm sure you understand, I've forgotten to eat a few times and then have been forced to wait until I get home.....by which time I've lost half a day!
I had to stay up late last night to fit my dinner in. Could really do with something in my handbag.

X

I keep an Atkins bar in my purse at all times for emergencies. They are low in carbs/sugar but I don't think you should rely on them for meal replacement, only when you have no time and it's the only option. There's an Atkins caramel cafe protein shake that's pretty good, too.

My Husband lost 9 stones a few years ago and occasionally uses Atkins bars if he's not sure how long he'll be out or if he's unsure what food will be available as a just in case kind of thing. I don't like them, they're too rich and heavy for me. I used to do Lighterlife and I'm good friends with the Councellor, so I get some of theirs every now and then for the same reason. :0)

love all the advice on here really helpful.......
on a different note I have a profile pic at last! lol yippee xxx

I could go days without eating ... Hurrah!

My provider says not eating is just as important as eating. I don't want to think about protein bars, shakes, etc and get back into the head space of panicking if I have not put anything in my mouth for a few hours. That is the old me ... I live in the knowledge and experience now that I did four weeks on less than 500 cals a day pre-op, and then again for three weeks post ... I did not pass away. xx

No but now you don't have the reserves you did have. I can't go more than 4 hours without eating or it makes me ill.

Yeah I am the same Yve don't feel hungry but my body lets me know. My head doesn't let me go without either haha x it does ya no good going without food it fuels the body
xx

Ditto on what Yve says I don't feel hungry but my body does .. I get confused, dizzy & quite sickly if I don't have something. Pre WLS I could go most of the day without eating or drinking and feel perfectly fine until about four in the afternoon before those feelings kicked in but now I can't go 3hours. Doesn't take a lot to kill it but I now just plan my meals and snacks better as laid out by my dietician and try to ensure that I don't get caught out.. I did on a recent shopping trip down to Penrith ..it was out of my control which is life. Got caught in bad weather driving down so our planned lunch at the marine shop we visit was an hour later and I was already starting to feel ill. Unfortunately the lady in the cafe there was also ran off her feet and it was nearly an hour before we got our order by which time I was so nauseous and giddy etc that I really couldn't eat it and just had my latte instead
