Awww Ceecie. That's pants! Glad you've got a diagnosis tho and are receiving treatment. Our lowered immune I liken to the hairloss - a temporary consequence of the trauma of the surgery and its effect on our bodies. We will be strong again. I had a couple of periods from hell just after surgery - and was not able to take my usual meds to keep the blood loss under control due to the increased risk of DVT as I was still wearing the stockings. That then set off my anaemia which had been brought under control through the prescribed said meds a few years ago ... I also had a really bad cold about four weeks post op. Then the dreaded hairloss ... i am pleased to say I've gone back to being menopausal again now. Phew! Chin up Ceecie hunni. Hugs a million for a speedy recovery xxxx

really like this post, very informative. Can i ask, did you suffer with hair loss? x

Yes Joanne, I did. It set in three months post bypass. I'm now six months post op and it has really slowed down. Goes with the territory I'm sorry to say. But glass half full it is only temporary. What our bodies go through with WLS should not be under estimated. And as for what our heads have to deal with ... That's another huge challenge running in conjunction with the physical. Nothing prepared me for how challenging the LSD before the op, and subsequent first ten or so weeks post would be. Good luck with your journey. xx

Ooh Ceecie, I hope you are feeling better soon.

I have just sat and read through the whole of your thread, some fantastic advice on here from some really knowledgeable ladies.

I am hoping to have the bypass later this year after having a couple of appointments. My next dietician appointment in March will be when they give me the pre and post op diets. I have no idea when the op will be though, but doing lots of reading to make myself as knowledgeable as possible.

Fantastic weight loss so far, well done. Good luck with your journey.

T xx

Funnily enough it is not the surgery really that is worrying me, its the hair loss ( i have thin hair anyway!) and how i will cope with the food after the op. Really helpful advice on here though, i love it.

Just scared, apprehensive, having doubts ........ going through the mill. but, tonight i went shopping and was buying biscuits for the kids and hubby, then walked passed the cake aisle and was gazing lovingly at the chelsea buns (my fave) and i had a word with myself and my willpower overtook and made me walk on............ i got to the car and was so pleased i managed to get a grip before i picked up the packet!

AHHHH WELL!!!! I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT CEECIE IS BACK IN THE BUILDING!!!

:)

Oh ladies!!! What an eye opener!!! Please please pleeeeeeease, all you newbies who are kindly reading/commenting on my thread.....listen to alllll the advice on here. These ladies are fantastic and all warned me that I needed to take extra care of myself.
As an ex-nurse, general know it all and keen self-prescriber, I thought I had every corner covered and was going to breeze through this weight loss journey without hitch.
So after losing my AIRWAY I finally admitted to myself that perhaps I may actually be wrong from time to time!!!!
This surgery kicks the wind out of you. The weightloss strips your immunity.
YOU NEED TO CARE FOR YOURSELF LIKE YOU WOULD A NEWBORN CHILD.
I was dehydrated and aneamic after only being on this journey since October 10th!!

Drink your fluids!
Take your supplements!
Eat your protein!
REST, REST AND OH......REST!!!!!!!!

Now I'm knackered.

Thank you for all of your lovely messages, old and new friends alike, you are all a blessing!

Night X

PS......I've lost another 6lbs!!! LOL :)

Well every cloud has a silver lining :) I will follow your progress, not knowing when I'm having mine :)))) glad u r home xxx

You're right ceecie. Having the stricture knocked it out of me as I couldn't eat and barely sipped water for 2 weeks! Get well soon xx

So glad to hear you are feeling better hun. It's so easy to get excited with all the weightloss etc that we forget to look after ourselves properly and fail to spot the warning signs when things may not be so hunky dory. Keep up those fluids, rest and recoup hun xx

Glad you are on the mend xx

Feeling much better now thank you ladies. I had what I would term a "normal" day today where I was able to participate fully in the family without having to have a rest. This hasn't happened since the first 2 weeks post-op.

Hopefully I can get moving next week. My enthusiasm has returned :)

So is everyone alright??! X
