Help!!!!

Almond butter is absolutely lush! Just a teaspoon or two is high calorie but still nutritious. If you like almonds, it's well worth a try. Great vitamins and minerals in it too i believe. It's gotta be better than chocolate and crisps - that would just make you not feel so good i imagine x

Hi hun. It's me here. Choc and crisps? Isn't that like suggesting a recovering alcoholic had a whiskey to chase away a cold? Not sure I'd trust that dietician's advice TBH. Adding Marvel? I use the Sanatogen protein powder which is fine.
Sanatogen High Protein Powder - 275g - Boots

My specialist nurse also recommended the Pulsin Soya as I do have a bit of a skin issue with too much dairy stuff as I try to drink at least 500ml of semi a day.

Hi Hun, you ok? How was Spain?

I'm very confused.....I was using whey protein powder already but she suggested Marvel in tea/coffee etc too......I think I may go to a dietician linked to my GP surgery when the blood results come through.....I did scratch my head re the snacking advice..... Lol xxx

If you're getting so few cals and can't manage volume start cooking with higher fat products such as oil instead of fry light, full ft cheese and butter instead of marg. I think your calorie cour is quite low so I suspect she's trying to up it to kick you back into a ft burning mode.

Nuts and milk are my calorific builder uppers. I also add marvel to an array of things as well ;) & I might just try that sanatogen protein as well lilac :).

That's terrible Hun!! Surely it doesn't matter how often you have it done if there is a reasonable reason for checking!! Totally rediculous....whatever is going on with the NHS?!
It isn't helped by the fact that neither my GP or provider took samples before my op so they don't have a benchmark to work from :sigh:. GP agreed with me that I needed at least another b12 injection (another 2 in fact) as I could feel my energy levels hitting low again but he has had to do this without recording it on the system because protocol says I can only get one every three months . I would have to be really ill with vitamin deficiencies before protocol could be over ridden ....Totally Nuts!

I spoke to my dietician today. Loose/sensitive teeth is common post bypass due to malabsorption. I need to double up on my 200% vits & mins, calcium and start taking extra vit D3. I have never had problems with my teeth, never had any treatment and have always had positive feedback from my dentist. So I am shocked....I never read anywhere that teeth could fall out post op. I have to visit the dentist monthly. My hair is thinning dramatically, skin is very dry and itchy, despite twice daily creaming. To top it all off, I get dizzy every time I bend over and have to lay down every time I eat. I've been advised to double my fluid intake to 3-4 litres on top of tea and coffee daily and add Marvel to all wet food. She also said to up my calorie intake by snacking on crisps and chocolate.....never expected that at all and not too happy about it. I feel my addiction is under control at present and didn't want a green light to welcome old habits into my new diet. I'm hopeful things will improve for me soon. I have now lost nearly 8 stone and really want to get out there and participate in life more. I hope everyone is ok. I know I've been quiet recently.....just totally shattered with this, along with a few personal probs. CEECIE will be back in better spirits soon :) xxx
thats tough Hun, hope it sorts itself out really quickly x

I've read about "dumping syndrome" and some people may experience it with different foods. On another forum, a lady kept dumping on coffee.

I'm having a bypass done in early April this year and I have yet to experience life post bypass.

Hope you are feeling much better now

Oh ceecie, it sounds like youre really going through the ringer at the moment! Isint it weird all the different guidelines we are given to follow and the different food groups that make us dump! The crisps/chocolate thing did sound a bit weird, but I can understand the intention behind it, but as others have suggested there must be a better and more nutritious way to boost your calorie intake. Yes choc/crisps will add to your calories but they have no beneficial nutritional qualities.

I just hope you get everything sorted out soon and get back to your cheery self. Good luck with your bloods too, (I hate needles!)

Sending you a great big hug,

J x

I consider myself to have been fortunate. I never had any medical problems as such before my wls surgery, sleep apnoea only confirmed throughout the lead upto surgery. I was really over weight at 24st 11lb. I take all my recommended vits have my B 12 etc. and have not really ailed a thing, have very few/virtually none to speak of colds since having my bypass 2 1/2 years ago. I still eat as healthy as I always did trying to get in my fruit n veg every day keep the carbs low when I can and keep a reasonable amount of protein going in. I still have treats which I could afford to cut out but trying to stay in control and say no when I need to. I have had problems with my teeth yet dentist insists no such thing. I wish they would just take them all out and be done with it. Costs me a bloomin fortune each time I go. x

I wish people who watch us go through these ops wouldn't think its a quick n easy fix because its not I find it harder now than I ever did. The old ways of wanting to eat are still there and they will come back if you let them. If you can keep off sweet stuff and don't go back you will be fine. I was fine until around 6-8 months when I started to introduce the odd thing now I have them as part of my daily routine I miss them badly and crave them if I don't have something. That's my one regret I had managed quite nicely til then. The other day my hubby gave me a small piece of mars bar with a cuppa coffee of what a treat can't remember the last time I had one of them. Couple of days later he gave me about 1/3 of a bar. Took it easy an hour or so later I went to work boy started with the light headed, shaky, feeling disorientated had to have ryvita n cuppa tea to settle it down. No more of them. Silly to try but we do push ourselves. Moments of madness. xx

How are you feeling now Cecee? Are you doing better? The Dietician told me on Monday that I need to double the amount of vitamin D that I take as my levels were lower than before. That's before I've had the op! xx

Hi Terrilou

I'm feeling better now, thank you. Yet another bout of flu so I've been tucked up in bed for a week. I've also doubled up on my vits and mins... Feeling less tired now and not getting dizzy like I was. Fingers crossed I'm over the worst of it!

When is your op due?

X

How are you now Chrisa? I tried some chocolate also and felt fine. Def don't want to make it a regular thing tho. I've been having double-chic protein bars, one most days in the past 10 days. Feeling much better! Xxx

Thanks Jenny x. Instead of the crisps/choc advice I've been having a protein bar instead and I think it's working. I'm feeling less tired/dizzy and the weight is moving faster too! :) xxx

Thanks Yve, I've taken your advice and have been eating more fattening food. I've also added a protein bar to my daily snacks and it seems to be working....feeling less tired and the weight loss has picked up :). Have you chosen your dress yet? I will have to catch up on your thread! Xxx
