thanks hunnie the meds seem to be kicking in although still quite tired. Went to town today to pay a few bills was back home pretty quickly though and the rest of the bills can wait. Cold dark and foggy here so curled up nice and warm ready for the soaps while hubby makes me poached egg. Not had any protein for around 5 days coz I can't be bothered to eat what wouldn't stay down. Got a smile on my face though today so must be on the mend. Ty big hugs xxx xxx

Good to hear your on the mend sweetness....... and so pleased you've a smile on your face :) mmmmmmmmm poached egg... hope it went down well :) may have to indulge tomorrow lunch time sounds lush ..... its certainly not easy going in the early weeks and onto 2 nasty infections too , just hang in there you'll soon be right as rain.... just in time for Christmas :D Huge huge huge hugs and lots of kisses coming your way x x xx

On the subject of protein...milk can't keep it down....eggs can't eat them only poached...fish can't stand the thought or the smell and looking makes me feel so sick I start gipping but tuna just a taste...chicken like any meat won't stay down...yoghurt a teaspoon or 2 max...I love cheese but it don't like me anymore I can't even face soup now. I'm running out of ideas and really fast. Also very cold and tired and it's getting worse each day. Oh and my hands and feet are like ice no matter how warm I wrap them. Today's menu B 1 weetabix with semi skimmed milk. (Quite sure it takes longer to eat it every day) L 1 crispbread with tuna paste (jar) D omelette (brought the 2 fork fulls straight back ) Drink 1/2 pint of orange juice....yes I need to drink more :(

would help if I drank or ate enough to use it hun. Just gonna have to ring my team but they tell me drink drink drink and I just can't do it do adding powder to drinks won't help. And food is almost non existent ah well gotta do something and really soon instead of going onwards I feel like 5 steps back.

The lack of energy could be because your not eating or drinking enough I never feel hungry or want to eat I just eat three times a day because I know I have to even seven months out def speak to your team though see what they say

Hope that I have found something that could help. A family member has suggested quinoa as it is mainly protein 90% of it so going to give it a try. Not feeling sorry for myself today thank goodness I detest the feeling. :)

I'm veggie Cupid so I'm struggling with protein also..... I've been picking on nuts for extra protein, they are high in fats but with the bypass you don't absorb much of that and I can manage half a dozen here and I there throughout the day. Quorn is also very high in protein and low cal if you can fit it in!... Comes in many forms! Also if your making soups add lentils for protein. :)

thanks for the tip hun will try quoin as I can't eat nuts. Have you tried quinoa at all?

Hey honey hows ya doing? glad to see your feeling a little brighter...... Quorn a great suggestion.... i use it all the time :) cheap too...... morrisons have the mince on offer this week £1.49 i used 1/2 bag for a a shepherds pie the other night , that did me a hubby plus leftovers for lunch .... the rest will be in a chilli with jacket potato tomorrow evening. I made a shepherds pie with it when my mum was down back in the summer and they didnt even notice it wasn't meat.............. and light on the old tum too :) The sausages are the only thing i don't bother with, but then we don't often have them, too high in cals lol

The no hunger feelings are quite normal............ as my dietician says its one of the sacrifices with a bypass....... like Princess says its eating just to fuel yourself now really :) not tried Quinoa so cant help there.... but yes stews and soups with pulses would be good if you can manage them. Protein drinks it struggling with food..... i added milk powder to soup as extra and cheese melted in if you can do the fat in cheese.

I hope your energy returns soon hunni........your going to need it with the run up to Christmas..... just be patient tho hunni its a long old road back to recovery x x x xx x huge hugs x x x x

Hi there hun...well I gave the quorn a go and made us all cottage pie. Now this is a firm fav of the family but I omitted to tell them I changed to the quorn to see if they could tell the difference even though everything else was the same....the result? Disappointed to say they all went out to kfc leaving me at home heaving :'(

Hubby called at Morrisons on the way home and bought me some goodnesshake protein drinks for recovery these contain 20% protein and only 7% sugars. I used them before my op so I hope they still taste the same and some protein is far better than none. I promised not to use them as a meal supplement and to try my best to eat 3 times a day.

I also spoke to my doctor this evening when we went to get our flu jabs and he says the drinks are similar to recovery drinks from the NHS and contain lots of vitamins too so all good but won't allow me to have my jab because it gives you a small dose of the flu and although minimal he says not yet. He also says he won't allow me my medical cert to say I can fly in May unless I make a rapid improvement before Christmas lol. He is going to keep a sharp eye on me because to keep the insurance company happy they require a 6month safe period of no serious set back on my immune system. I have used the same company everytime we travel and they are fab. Doc also told me he will give me a prescription for fitness lessons after Christmas which entitles me to 6 weeks at our council run gym as a form of physio with a health instructor using special equipment but only if I put in the effort before hand. He reckons that if I don't try harder then I will be letting myself down and end up depressed again and I don't want that.

As for feeling sorry for myself come what may I am going out tomorrow for some much needed air as feeling housebound just makes me feel worse. Thanks for your help it means a lot to me hun and everyone else that has given me advice. Also really do appreciate it. Xxx xxx

Well done Cupid, you'll be surprised how you progress onto bigger portions and manage to keep it down. I have discovered digestives unfortunately I had three today because I was being a pig and I suffered for it made me feel sick, but lesson learnt font set three stick to 1-2 and be happy but they are the only thing I have had a fancy for :)

cheers hun to be honest the only reason I ate the digestive was to enable me to have strong pain killers. Really bad pain through the back under the middle of my shoulder blade right through to the front had this a few days but today defo called for strong pain killers. X

Glad you managed to keep your food down today hunni ............. sounds like you have similar pain to me :( am putting it down to trapped wind...... am sitting up with a peppermint tea before i head to bed............all else fails it will be a late night jaunt to tescos to get some windeze LOL failing that i will be on the phone to the hospital tomorrow........... hoping it is just wind lol have been terribly constipated last couple of weeks grrrr tummy pretty grumbly tho sounds like some old drains rumbling around...... LOL hope your pain killers worked ok will have to stock up my cupboards with some meds for times like this......i hate taking stuff tbh, may have to make a hot water bottle instead :) x x x x x
