I've joined the losers club

I found it hard to eat big portions after the first infill, my plate size reduced rapidly, but I have noticed that Im getting hungry between meals now, so it must be my body telling me that I am ready for another infill. plus I've not had a weight loss since Tuesday. Are you finding it hard going back on liquids? I found it a killer! xx

H Donna, I haven't lost any weight at all 2nd week pre op, I'm a bit dismayed as all if had is around 700'calories a day, but hey ho onward and downwards , got my first fill on 8th April, just started yesterday on purée, that's so good but still having a protein shake for lunch, how are you getting on.

Yes,it was strange back on liquids. Had sloppy yesterday evening and today although had some flaked tuna and pasta earlier. For tea tonight I made a lamb dinner. All I managed was some mashed potato, a carrot baton and some lamb blended into the gravy. Felt quite full so left the rest.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much I eat tomorrow when I'm back on real food.

I found I loose better if I am having between 900-1200 calories a day, 700 calories is too low, so every time you eat, your body is grabbing hold to it and this is probably preventing you from losing. I found my best weight loss was when I gave up protein shakes as I found them to be full of sugar.

What I did when I went on to the pureed stage was pop to M&S or Waitrose and bought pre packed food around 300 cals, like cottage pie or fish pie which I could much up, for breakfast I would have weetabix with hot milk to make soft. You will find that you will have a big weight loss next week. Just keep going, it gets easier as time goes on and we all lose at different rates. You have had a fantastic weight loss already in such a short time xx

Interesting lunch time at work today. Had crackers and a tin of mackerel for my lunch. I either put too big a spoon in or didn't chew enough. It crept down my throat and I felt it go all the way down. I wasn't sure if would stay down so sat with my bin at the side of me. It was very uncomfortable as it went through. I then thought that I would take a gulp of coffee to help it on the way, but again that was slightly painful. However, then the pain went and I was relieved it had gone through.
I will make sure I chew more next time and take a bit smaller amount instead of shoving food in like I used to. I'm just a greedy pig.

Its a huge learning curve Sue ............ trying to undo all those eating habits in such a short space of time not always possible. So far, fingers crossed i've not done it yet......... but not looking forward to when i do............... i am a wuss LOL glad all was well in the end. The hardest thing is trying to be 100% focused on eating, which must be hard at work with all the distractions. Hope your tum is ok now x x x x

Thanks Crystal. Yes I agree, it will take us a while to get used to it. When I had my fill last week, the nurse said it will take you months to learn how to eat properly. I think I would be better if I just had my mouth sewn up.

Tomorrow I am at Uni in the morning then at home all afternoon and Thursday is my day off so will try and really focus and try some new things as I am so bored.
I bought a weight loss book with recipes and there is a lovely pizza recipe using a wholemeal tortilla, passata and low fat mozzarella. Just bake for 5 mins and eat. I'm making these.

Hope you are Ok Crystal xx

I've promised myself to sit down and try and get my head around what foods i'm going to be eating now on solids, i've also promised myself a nice recipe book for wls patients, the pizza sounds nice :) I've had no fill and only really just going over to solids, a bit delayed after dental treatment :( at mo am ranging from jacket pots to cornedbeef hash - shepherds pie blah blah, but just really want to cook some nice healthy meals...... although i was trained as a cook many years ago, i tend to be so boring with my meals..... pre op most days was bit of chicken or fish with veg from the local farm stall LOL tomorrow i WILL sit and write a list and go shopping, first i will trawl the internet for some possible recipe ideas :) let us know how the recipes go x x x

Hi Donna, not been on for a wee while, I still have not lost any weight, that's been for nearly 2 weeks, totally dismayed, I started today buying the low fat meals so hopefully they will help, I'll let you know how I get on with that, I get my first fill on the 8th April, looking forward to that as hunger between meals is setting in, I haven't once. Had any bad things infant I had a spoonful of nutella but that's been it, I really thought I would be at least 10lbs lighter by now, I've just need to be patient, that's hard for me lol, hope you are doing well and you get on ok with your fill.

Weight loss is different in all of us, when I look at others weight loss, I see they have lost more than me in a shorter time too, and I start to wonder what I am doing wrong.

I found the first week I never lost any, where most lost 7-14lbs, but as soon as I started eating every four hours, watching my calories rather than size, my weight started to come off. Im now losing between 1-2lbs a week, some days I put on. I try to have between 1000-1200 cals a day and eat every four hours. I limited my carbs too but the dietician told me off for that. You will find by next week you will start losing again. Nutella won't hurt you lol, a little of everything you enjoy is good for you.

Had my second infill today, had 1.5mls put in so now have 4mls in a 10ml band, no funny turn this time, came home, had some soup, a milky coffee, but tonight I tried having more soup and cannot swallow, now my band is talking to me, every time I open my mouth it gurgles, might have to go back tomorrow and have some removed! my band is definitely too sensitive x

So I think I'm finally realising how I should be eating!

Had a fill 2 weeks ago and hadn't lost any weight since then. Was mainly sticking to 1000 cals a day but some days went a bit over that. Have been having crisp bread and low fat hummous or light philadelphia with carrot sticks and tomatoes, some fruit in between then an evening meal.

Had been feeling quite hungry in between meals and when off work snacking a bit too. Anyway the last few days I had something more substantial for my meals. Yesterday I had 2 chicken thigh fillets and the most minute jacket potato for lunch and was full for at least 4 hours. For tea I had 2 baby new potatoes, 1 salmon fillet and a dessert spoon of coleslaw and couldn't eat for the rest of the night.

Took a while for the penny to drop but think I'm getting there now.

So I got weighed this morning and lost another 2lb. Lost 18lbs now. Not as fast a loss as a lot of people on here, but at least I weigh less now than I have in a few years and as long as it all comes off eventually then I am pleased.

I now just need to be more creative with my meals. I'm bored with all the same old food, so need to be more adventurous. xxx

thats the way to be thinking about it sue! Well done on the loss your well on your way to 2 stone now! im sure it wont be long till you get there! x x

Thank you. Yes I know we all lose at different rates, but I suppose I feel like you are all racing ahead and here am I plodding along as usual. Like you say, it will come off at my own pace.

I have increased my protein too and that certainly has helped me feel fuller for longer. It also seems to remove that need for nibbles.

I also need to up the exercise. I work most days and I am a nurse so run around constantly, walk the dogs every day but think I will start swimming next Tuesday. There is a ladies night each Tuesday at my local baths so will need to dig out that swimsuit (cringe) and take the plunge!!!!!!
