Jackie's post sleeve diary

Can you not have mince or scrambled egg. Also I think I mentioned this to you but if you chew, chew, chew soft food it becomes purée in your mouth probably not the correct thing to do, but I'll admit to doing this ( only with soft foods though!) xx

Hi Aud, mince and scrambled eggs are only recommended on soft food from week 4. I am really really tempted though!

More ideas.. Refried beans with a little pureed mild veg chili and guacamole on the side. Chickpea pate ( if not hummus), tzatziki blitzed till smooth... Etc

I had them from week one! But as you say we've all got different rules! Although my dietician said the guidelines were not hard and fast rules and you could do things when you felt ready! Xx

Thanks for that. I will be fine only another 12 days on puree as have to do 4 weeks, then 2 weeks soft food then normal. Not long at all in the scheme of things.
Rant over, I will survive the puree ha ha.
I love your diary, look forward to your updates! xxx

Soft food it a good stage...just test things and eat what yoyre comfortable with. Take it slowly and you will be fine! Youre doing great x

I struggled with purée the feel of it on my mouth made me feel sick so I just skipped to chewing. Chicken, Melba toast, pate, boiled egg all mashed up, chopped potatoe and veg this was much better for me, obviously tiny amounts I'm 9 weeks post sleeve and can still only manage half an egg or a third of a danio yoghurt
Hope you find some food you both like and enjoy
Kim x

Thanks Kim, 9 weeks, how you doing? xxx

Jackie. This stage will be over so soon. Have to say Karina mentioned the beans with sausages in. Got me hooked on my puree stages they fizz up really well. Her and Sharon were wee amazing idea chefs in the puree stage what about cauliflour with a stong cheese

Thanks Kim, 9 weeks, how you doing? xxx

I'm doing really well 4 stone down from pre LSD been back to see surgeon all ok there next appt in 3 months. Still get a bit tired but could be due to only managing 400 calories per day. Been on holiday had a fab time , all in all better than I expected My only regret is not having managed to have done this sooner. I haven't as yet returned to work but will do very soon, luckily I get full pay and as it's a very stressful environment I'm making sure I'm up to it first. It's the best thing I've ever done, I can't believe how different I feel. Kim x

Wow Kim that's great weight loss - you've got this weight thing kicked ! It's always reassuring to read of success for those further out as it makes you hope you can follow their path.

I've had my follow up come through for August so I can't knock Walsall - they have done what they said when they said they would!

Did you find the food stage more difficult than fluids? I ask as I am over 400 cals a day already on day 8 liquids. With my pint of milk, soup and two shakes I figure I am 800 or so a day. I am fine with that but 400 will mean some big cuts !!!! Ha

Glad you've been able to get the leave you need to be sure you're really well enough for that environment when you go back. Retiring meant that wasn't an issue for me but I am really pleased it's ok in your world. That said I am working next week for a day only to deliver a training package so let's see how that exhausts me!

Take care Kim. Thank you for all the support and kind messages. x

I just can't manage any more, but if know I'm not getting enough nutrition, I was the same on liquid, I only managed half a fortimel and 2 spoons of soup and on a good day I might have squeezed in half pint of milk by having 4 tiny milky drinks.
So make sure you eat more and maintain those calories I assume we need 800/900 at least, so I am trying but also determined not to bulk out the calories with bad food. My pouch must be tiny ( I'm not complaining).
Have a fab day Kim

Just testing out my new tracker, hopefully it works!

Yes it does. Crikey you are doing fantastic 40 pounds wow!

That's from the start not from the surgery date. I wish! ha ha xxx
