Jackie's post sleeve diary

Hi Jackie, I had a good chat to the dietician yesterday. I think an important thing she said was everyone is different and to listen to your own body as a good indicator! She went through what I had been eating and on the whole she was pleased - although she'd like me to have more calcium and protein! She said don't get hooked on calories either although when asked she said at my stage you're looking at about 600/700. I asked about protein drinks and she said if you need to, but the best protein drink going was milk! Also she was pleased I added hard cheese to my soup at times - more protein and calcium! She also said about adding milk powder to soup also! Even though I am only 5 weeks post op ( which wasn't the easiest by all accounts and nearly three hours long) I have given the all clear to introduce all foods, she said your body will tell you if your not ready and to take it back to the previous stage if this is the case!

Xx

Sugar seems a little hight for me but I am diabetic but the 20g protein sounds great . I think I wound have to try it thanks for the information. .

Thanks Debs, I do feel a bit apprehensive about going back to be honest, mainly because of the whole puree thing. However I am really looking forward to it too. I love my job and it will be good to get back to normality!
Have a good week until then though Debs xxx

Hi jackie! Those arla yoghurts are ok but quite bitter. The blueberry is the sweetest. I struggle to finish one even at 10 months out but that's due to the high protein. Fage do a good one too, 14g but my staple days food is Danio at 11g. I don't worry too much about carbs, most of these protein yogs have up to 20g of carbs in, but you eat so little in a day it's nothing to panic about.
Take care..

I was back so quick after my band no-one noticed I'd been MIA. Just a regular school week's holiday. If you can manage it, I do think getting back is a good way to move on from the whole surgery thing. Life isn't just about wls after all. :). I managed by having soup for lunch every day and I planned for snacks etc. wasn't the first 'diet' they ever saw me on loool I lost five stone before one of the girls in my little group asked me if I lost weight. We were all quite chunky and trying every diet going. Ha. Glad I kept it to myself :) I had no restriction year one anyway so I literally was dieting that 9 stone off.
I digress, sorry lol, you will be fine hun, both of you :D

Hi moan alert
just an update, feeling brilliant apart from still tired. My biggest gripe is the pureed food, it's horrible! Everything tastes the same once it is pureed! I am dying to eat something crunchy and to use a knife and fork! Sorry to whinge, I think I will feel better when I am back at work and distracted. Apart from this, you really would not know I had had surgery! Even drove my car for the 1st time today and felt brilliant.
Hope everyone is ok
Jackie

What are You eating? Tried Fish in sauce? Hummous ? Sweet potato?

Are you mixing them altogether or keeping them separate?

Hi
Thanks for the replying, never though of humous and I love it. Just having soup, mashed potato and gravy, yoghurts etc. Tried fish in sauce and it felt like I had ate a brick. Every provider is so different with their recommendations too aren't they?
Hope you are continuing to do well.

Wondering if something like a chowder only take the fish out, it will still taste fishy. Mild curry as well. I used to make something called curried lentil pate. Its dead easy but would have to be made lower fat.

Just onion and lentils boiled till they are thick mush. Mix with some curry paste and lemon juice to taste, s&p. Normally wouldn't puree but its on my list. Keeps in the fridge blummin gorgeous on a Dutch Crisp-bake.

Thanks. How do the dutch crispbakes sit? We were told nothing crispy/crunchy just pureed but I remember you saying you were giving these from the start. I would just love something crunchy. I think it seems worse with being on milk diet for so long.
Oh my god, I am boring myself with the moaning! Ha ha

Yes first thing I got was a crispbake, low fat spread and a NAS fruit seedless jam. It melts completely, and I am not on puree, only fluids and dutch bakes first 2 weeks.

They are not like crisp breads or toast they literally disintegrate in your mouth.
