January 2014 surgeries

Glad to hear things are going great salliebeth

I don't want to gloat, but I am really surprised how well I feel!!!!! I had very little pain, and am tolerating my build up regime!! I keep thinking " did I really have a sleeve, or did the surgeon just cut the skin six times on my tummy to make it look like I had had keyhole surgery???!!!!! " Just hope this feeling well continues!!!

I agree I felt very good I only had one bad time and that was caused by morphine made me feel bad but felt better after very quick
Really pleased your doing good

well rather than catch up one by one i wish all well having surgery in the next few days and look forward to seeing updates from those who had in the last few days

i noticed also the smoking topic i quit last year after 30 years smoking though i still do crave when stressed but i wont give in i bought a new pen i just throw that in my gob when i feel the urge lol

That sounds great Hun I've seen quite a few have said the same fingers-crossed I'm a lucky one too. I'm a wuss I was in tears with the blood pressure cuff earlier but when she took it off I had reason I look like a giant catfish gave me a hicky. As my skin caught in the flap and folded over. The blood test wasn't too great either... But I have worse to come haha. Take care, your doing great xx

Same here sall I keep looking at my wounds thinking have I dreamt it all :)

It's my biggest fear at the moment that I go in and they fake the surgery as a test to see if I can loose weight and that I'm under some trial and it won't work. Really looking forward to it and smile when I think it's only 5 sleeps. Yay. This better work.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one Tracey!!!!

Larabelle the time will fly by, and before you know it, it will be the day of your op!!! I can't believe I'm a week post op!!! Where has the week gone???!!!! Xxx

No I promise it can not be faked you will have discomfort and the wind can be bad but overall the pain is manageable if things go ok there are times were an infection or other problems happen But I have never known them fake it but you can tell even if you have a band with no restriction there still is a restriction and you will know also with a band there is a port Good luck larabelle it's normal to be anxious at this stage just before Mark

Hi all, sorry not been on for a few days. What with feeling pretty rotten on this pre op diet (either an unlucky bug or ketosis - extreme fatigue, pounding headache and nausea) and working extra I've not had the time. But feeling much better today and away for some salon pampering before Tuesday.
Had my pre admission appointment yesterday and had a look around the facility so all looks to be fine.
I'm gonna take some time to read thru this thread properly later on today so I can catch up with everyone journeys thus far but hope you guys are all feeling well and excited whether just had or are about to embark on surgery.
Ps thought I had it easy on this high protein, low carb diet but if I never see another piece of steak again would be just fine, having said that I have not been hungry and have lost 12lbs in 6 days - so the complaining stops here ;) :)

Wow matra that loss is fab!! Im on same diet and my scales havent budged! :( I havent treated myself to steak yet thats an idea for tonight! Ive been eating lots of chicken and salad/veg and I felt v sick yday :( what meals have u been having? Need some inspiration! X

Hi I'm feeling really lucky I have only 5 days pre-op diet to do and want to send hugs to all who are struggling. I'm quite enjoying it to be fair. I can eat 200g of strawberries but at this time of year that's £2 for 10!!!! Good job it's 5 days. Yesterday I had
Breakfast- 1 banana
Lunch- 2 crackerbreads with 75g of sweet chilli philly with 100g of red pepper/cherry toms/ spring onion and a muller light
Dinner- 150g steam salmon 100g steam potato 100g of fresh steamed veg medley then strawberries with a 1/2 skimmed milk allowance for coffee/tea- total 829 cals

I know I'm well pleased with the loss, wasn't expecting much at all to be honest. I have found that one egg, poached or scrambled is good at filling me up at breakfast time (who knew that 1 would be enough ;) for lunch usually Rivita with cheese or a prawn with lettuce and cucumber with a spot of Mayo ( although I am sick of mayo as well - the full fat stuff is making me nauseous) for tea I'm having steak and cauliflower with cheese melted on top, fish cooked in milk with a poached egg with some wilted spinach, salmon and salad, pork chops with broccoli and carrots, chicken with broccoli and cauliflower with melted cheese. I must admit that I don't think I have managed to finish any evening meal as I really am getting sick of meat!! But the combination of high protein, low carb certainly staves the hunger!
Hope that's helps

Hi l love your pre op diet.. sounds great did your dietician put you on it! I've been given the liquid diet combination of weight watchers soup -4 a day plus 4 low fat yougurts , water , decaffeinated coffee and tea . So far so good. However I keep running to the loo ...(weeing) for England Lolxx. Is this expected I ask myself is anyone else experienced this.... Maybe all this soup is melting the weight lol .
Interested to hear if anyone else is doing the same. This is my second day 12 days to go

yeah running to the loo is common with all that liquid lol.

my liquid diet is 3 pints of milk, 2 light yogurts and a multivitamin lol

Yes that's Derbys diet. I've been peeing a lot too ( the toilet rolls taken a big hit) think it's water retention. Low carb acts as a diuretic too who knows I'm 8 kg down so I'm good with that x
