2 of mine did, so much so they had to change my bed twice and the lovely nurse took my nightie away and washed for me. They eventually needed to be completely redressed (I think they prefer to add to the existing dressings rather than start again)

please don't be teary. I promise this won't last forever. Keep talking to us even if you fancy chatting about something different to keep your mind off it.

Take care xxx

Early start for me in the morning. Setting off from South Wales to Bradford for my pre-op assessment tomorrow then surgery on Tuesday.....can't believe how calm I am at the moment, I'm sure that will change once I'm in the car lol
good luck for today. They are so lovely at the clinic.

One of mine bleed so much it practically fell off so they had no option. I got the impression that if they are happy that the bleeding has stopped / contained then they would rather leave it or add packing to it so as not the disturb the existing clotting that should be going on.

As for gas pain, I did indeed have quite a bit, especially in my right shoulder ( still have a bit) it did cause me to shout out in pain once but some tramadol calmed it down. It was unfortunate that I was bed bound for pretty much 3 days, so I could do little to try and shift it.

Much admit, things are not as easy as I'd hoped they'd be going but hopefully in a weeks time it will all be a distant memory!

Stay strong, we're in this together xxx

Good luck to ClareA today - thinking of you x

Hi Nicola sorry to read that you had such a rough time. Hopefully you will start to feel much better today especially when you get home to your own home. My port wound bled initially and needed extra gauze but this soon stopped and I haven't look back. Oh one other thing I ended up having a reaction to the little dressing and had to take them off when I went home. They got very very itchy and I came up in welts. You would have thought I had fell in a bed of nettles!!!

Thanks :) op done at 9am, was in agony all around my ribs immediately after the op but now the morphine has kicked it, I feel great. Just drifting in and out of sleep now x

Well done you.
I found I had increasingly better nights and improvements throughout the day. 1 week on and I feel so good. I'm amazed :)

Has anyone had any experience of blood transfusions and waiting to your blood count to replenish. I'm probably far too impatient but I can bearly move my butt off the sofa. The total sum of today's activities are shower, 10 min walk and make the kids tea and I had to have a lie down after each.

My blood count fell to 7.1, they gave me 2 units and then it raised to 8.2, had it been below 8 they would have given me more but left me and told me to take it easy and it would replenish.

So tired and it is totally not helping my recovery - my head is so fuzzy!
