January 2014 surgeries

Hi everyone, had my bypass this morning and fingers crossed everything seems ok so far! The pain is ok but one of my ports is reopening so every time I go to the toilet it is bleeding!

what have they closed the ports with hun? mine are stapled and the big one has bled a little in the first few days

yeah it goes solid. only saw surgeon for 2 minutes before surgery. never met him before and didnt see him at all after ( was in 5 days) tramadol never affected me, was morphine that would send me dizzy and sleepy
We got tramadol and paracetamol to take together if and when needed at home, everywhere is so different

Brilliant news andie, glad all went well.

I had a problem with one of my wounds, soaked my nightie and bed, which the poor nurses had to change 3 times my first night. The nurses tried to pack my dressing and recover but it didn't work, in the end they had to strip it back, clean it up, apply more steri strips and cover - did the job. I just left that dressing on a bit longer than the rest and it seems to have healed just fine.

Does anyone know if scrambled egg are allowed on purée stage with ought having the put it through a blender. If I chew it enough surely it purées it anyway. Just fancy something different tomorrow for breakfast.

my diet sheet says can have a softly scrambled egg if its blended. put me off the thought of blending it

Mine doesn't say scrambled egg until soft and crispy staff next. Couldn't have it blended but eggs are good source of protein so just working out how to have one.

my other half adds them raw to smoothies

I like my scrambled egg only just cooked. I ping it, stirring every few seconds and take it out when verging on cooked and it finishes cooking itself. Keeps it really soft and mushy rather than like rubber!!!
I've not had it since bypass but plan to soon. Can't wait ;-)

I had it from week 4 onwards. Some days tummy likes it other days it doesn't. I think egg white can be hard to digest x

I'm just on paracetamol....Def need anything stronger, especially at nite! I'll get my Mum to speak with our gp 2mor so I have them for weekend :)

bless you claire, cant imagine only haviing paracetamol in hospital. why wont they give stronger?

Don't shout at me folks as I'm only on anything thru a straw stage but I really fancied egg the other day so I made a really running scrambled egg. Chewed the bugge*y out of it before swallowing and it was very satisfying (well all 3 teaspoons of it anyway)

It's my only stray from liquid although I'm pretty sure I could have got it thru a straw anyway it was that runny.

Away to make my puréed shopping list, roll on Tuesday. Mmmmmm mince and neeps here I come .......... Excited much!!!

Hope you are well or firmly on the mend
X

tablets? wow im not allowed tablets for another 3 weeks

they should be giving you liquid paracetamol Clare, and dissolvable tramadol, that's what I had in hospital. Seems strange that they are only giving you paracetamol? Hope you are doing ok other than that xxx

I'm not having a good day, feel sick with nerves for having my staples out, didn't sleep very well either with trapped wind due to being constipated, grrrrr any ideas what I can have? Thinking of getting some benefiber when I go to the chemist
