January 2014 surgeries

Hi 2nd timer, I was under for less than an hour. I think this is to do with my post op bleed and subsequent transfusion. Surgeon had hoped that my blood would build up over the last two weeks but I think it may still be quite low. Got an 8pm appointment tonight with the surgeon so hopefully he may be able to provide some advice and stuff.

Thanks

Thinking if you hunny. Hope so x

Hi All January peeps.

Well, I was bypassed on Saturday and came home yesterday. All went well so now hope there is space on the losers bench for me :D.

Had a funny turn last night after taking soluble paracetamol, it bloated me out so much I thought I was going to be sick. Have decided to crush ordinary paracetamol now as really didn't like the feeling. Only trouble is my zinc and multivit are also effervescent soluble, but they didn't cause me the same problem this morning.

Has anyone had their tummy bloat out and go hard? Because of mine I have found it hard to get all my fluids in today and didn't have my soup lunchtime either. Have only had 3 wees today as well, which is unusual for me.

hiya matra, im exactly the same, feeling well enough when sat and feeling bored out of my brain. the minute i get up to do something, i get tired very quickly. ive been having showers at my mums as she has a flat walk in cubicle, as opposed to having a hand held in my bath to get in and out of, and just having the shower and getting dressed has me knackered for a good 10 minutes. Im off to the hairdressers tomorrow, so hoping I can cope with that! xx

im off to super cuts tomorrow to get my hair washed lol. im banned from showers and baths and cant bend to wash my hair over the bath. cant wait till monday and getting the all clear at my wound check

Hi Matra. I hope everything goes well with your appointment

Thanks guys, very positive consultation with surgeon. He expected my blood count to be about 9 1/2 or so but my busy body has been in overdrive and my blood count way up to normal at 12.9 so he is pretty sure that my body has been so busy with that and that is why I'm have been so tired. I have to continue taking it easy but he think that I should see a turn around in the next couple of days. (Oh I really hope so). Only bad part of the meeting was a junior doctor trying to get blood because I wasn't giving it up easy, anyway after being stabbed about 5 times my surgeon got it first time - think I might be in for some bruising tomorrow!!

Totally with you there nervousbutdetermined, never thought showering would be a chore, fortunately we installed a walk in shower earlier this year so at least that's easier. It's totally ridiculous that when I go into the shower I have to make sure I leave the front door unlocked and take the phone in with me just incase anything happens - drama queen or what!!

We'll all get there I just need to be less impatient.......

lol awww hun, you're not a drama queen, just taking all precautions, thats good. last thing you want is to fall over and not be able to get any help :)

im off to the drs friday for my platelet blood test (which I shouldve had last week but my dr stabbed me and missed!) and as Im such a wuss for needles (i faint if it lasts more than a few seconds) i had to go back. maybe that has something to do with the tiredness, and the dizzy spells Ive had today

Thanks Tina, I'm really struggling/impatient to be feeling up to par, sound like you are exactly the same.

Hope all goes well on Friday and he gets a hole in one on the first attempt ;)

Totally off topic, I'd kill for a nice freezing cold diet coke!! (not that I have any in the house nor would I drink it if I had but just the thought of it...........)

Brilliant BFB, always nice to get home to your own bed.

Speedy recovery

Hi January Peeps
I am now day 5 post op, was bypassed on Sat 25th. All went well, and so far, so good apart from not getting enough fluids in me each day. Really struggling especially as multivit, paracetamol and zinc are all soluble and tend to make me feel really bloated and my tummy goes really hard - is this normal?
Shaz xxxx

Hi shaz and a big welcome to the losers bench. I'm over 2 weeks past surgery and still struggle with my fluid intake but it's getting a little more each day so we'll get there.

Sorry I'm a sleever so can't help you with your other question.

Take care x

Had a yogurt for breakfast this morning. First day off the water and all going well so far.

Bet that chewed good :)
