Next step - approaching the finish line

Yes - the GP confirmed that I have funding. The thyroid shouldn't be a problem as it's literally just a case of taking yet more tablets to replace the hormone that my thyroid isn't producing. I'll have that many flippin tablets that I will rattle as I walk soon lol

So pleased for you!
You never know - the surgery will probably help you come off some pills.

Great news! After you see Jeremy the team meeting comes through quite quickly I seem to remember then within 18 weeks from that date they will offer you the op date, so getting there now!
I haven't had my bypass yet, got cancelled last week as Mr Cota was ill, rebooked for the 6th sept with Mr Finlay now.

OMG, I joined this site a few days ago, but have just read your thread from start to finish, in about 20 minutes. I have cried and laughed and felt every other emotion for you, I cannot believe the journey you've been on so far. Hopefully, there is now a light at the end of the tunnel for you, and can't wait to hear that you've finally got your date. Thinking of you Hun, and have everything crossed.
Xx

Thank You all - I love this forum, everyone is so supportive and friendly.
Sarahj2710 - thank You, I blubbed like an idiot as I was writing the first bit - Although I do love a good cry now and again lol
Good luck for the 6th Bexh - we'll be on our way 'upcountry' for our daughters wedding. I will be thinking about you. Can't wait to hear how you go on.
Yves, you are always there to offer a positive and useful word. You are an amazing example to me (and others) and I can't wait to join the losers.
Thank You again.

This is definitely a busy time for you - op in the works now and your daughter's getting married! Enjoy every minute :)

You made me cry bless you x

WOW! Just read all the way through, what an awful time you have had! But at least now the wheels are in motion fingers crossed it speeds up for you! Enjoy your daughters big day! Hugs xxxx

Hi all - thanks for the comments. The wedding was lovely, as was the 'hen do's'. I admit to being very naughty and putting some weight back on. Luckily it's gone again now.
Went to a compulsory group meeting last week with the bariatric nurse who will be seeing each member of the group through and beyond their ops. Lovely guy.
Have my multi-disciplinary meet with the surgeon etc next Tuesday (8th). If they decide I am suitable (health wise) for the bypass, then I should have the op within 18 weeks from then. So - roughly around February next year. Now, as they've only been doing the ops for a short time down here, they like a persons BMI to be 60 or below. I've worked out that I have another 14lbs to lose to get my BMI to 60. I'm wondering if anyone knows if they will still accept me (providing I pass all the medical stuff) even if I still have the 14lb to lose (18 weeks to lose 14 lbs shouldn't be too difficult - less than 1lb a week).
The nurse seemed happy with it and when I saw the dietician a few weeks ago she was happy to recommend me (even though at that time I was about a stone, possibly more than I am now).

THis was supposed to be in my diary thread - not sure how I managed to get it as a separate thread lol.

Well, we're now over a year later and I might FINALLY be approaching the finish line (although I see it more as the start line). Due to various issues with my health & their staffing levels, everything was put off and off and off. The surgeon wanted heart checks, but I couldn't do them unless I could lay on my back for up to 2 hours. Due to developing an inner ear 'thing' I couldn't lay on my back for 2 minutes let alone 2 hours. This hung around for about 9 months, which meant lots of postponing of the appt. At the same time there was, once again a total change of staff in the Bariatric dept. which also contributed many appts being cancelled and a good 6 months to delay.

For the new dietician, a 50lb weight loss wasn't enough for her as the new surgeon will only do the op on people with a BMI below 60. Mine had gone from 73 to 63. We moved house (yet again - but have finally found somewhere that we're happy). However this means a 2 & 1/2 hour drive to the hospital (no public transport available whatsoever). This means that my husband has to take the full day off work for me to attend appointments - he cannot have any days of between May and the beginning of Sept.

I went through a phase where I though SOD IT IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN ... and put two stones back on!!!

Anyway, finally got my head in gear. All the checks and tests are finally done. Been to see dietician today (AGAIN - although I must say this one is lovely and seems very competent). Overall I have gone from 399lbs to 318lbs which means a pre-op loss of just around 5 1/2 stones (if my maths is right). My BMI is 59.26. Once again, I have been told that everything is in order, everything is good and all I have to do now is wait to hear that I am on the waiting list for the op --- SO WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

Yay! Fingers crossed hon the next time I see you you'll be much slimmer!

What a story! What a tale of perseverance, you are one tenacious lady.

I really hope things happen for you soon, I wish you all the very best.

I think you'll be a real success story.

Having met the lovely Jayne I can totally agree bander bird :) she has already done amazingly well and will no doubt do fantastically post op too :)

Thank you Banderbird & Yves. Watch this space. xx

Absolutely everything crossed for you xx

GOT MY DATE . . . 6th May OMIGOODGOD!!!!! Excited, nervous, happy, scared, hopeful etc etc . . . YYYYAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH:eek::eek::553::hide::clap::happy036::bliss::wow::talk017:

great news congrats

Had my hair cut short and coloured today. Totally different from how it's looked for the past 15 years or so. Thought a change was necessary to go with the big change that's coming. Also scoured shoe shops and was going to spoil myself with new shoes and boots. However, thinking about what so many people have said about their feet shrinking, I decided on buying yet more bags instead lol. Now I am considering sorting my clothes as it's just dawned on me that I will never wear them again (most are already too big and that's before preop diet and op itself.

I was just wondering if anyone else felt a sort of compulsion to make changes before their op.
