Next step - approaching the finish line

i did the hair and colour last week though only miniscule trim love my longer hair

Unless I was imagining it, my gp has just offered me forceval and any other necessary vitamins on prescription for life - I take it, this is not a normal response for a gp.

Nope :) Can you get him to prescribe mine too? ;)

I was shocked. I went to get current medication switched to liquid for a while, mentioned the possibility of liquid vits. She started putting all sorts into the bloomin computer (automatic alerts for B12, blood tests re; iron etc) and then said she may as well add all the vitamins and whatever else I might need to my repeat prescriptions list as I'll need them for life and saves doing it post op.

i can get 2 months vits on script then i have to buy but get adcal for life

I know that areas differ in what you can get on prescription, but I wonder if it's also down to individual gp's.
I rang them today to make sure I had heard right. Apparently, I did and one of the reasons the gp wants me on prescription vits is that some can interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine (which I take for my hypothyroidism), so it makes more sense to know what I am taking so that they can makes adjustments to everything as necessary.

how much do people lose on pre-op diet

Do people always lose a lot of weight on the preop?
Only asking because as I've admitted previously, after spending over five years being continuously told different things and constant changing of the goalposts by the bariatric team, I had finally given up all thoughts of actually getting the op and went back to my old habits. I managed to put a couple of stones by the time the hospital rang me with a date. I have worked very hard since that phone call and managed to lose the two stones (apart from two pounds). My pre op is Tuesday, which is also the day I start my preop diet. Unlikely many people, I won't have water to lose due to me currently being on a VLCDiet at the moment. I am expecting to only lose a few pounds by the day of the op. I am worried that if I am only four or five pounds lighter than on the day of my preop, they might think I haven't stuck to the preop.
Will this be a problem?

Not at all hon. Some people lose very little anyway. The risk is if the liver isn't small enough which won't be an issue in your case anyway. My team would have gone ahead if I hadn't lost any more so long as i hadn't gained.

Thank you Yves. I am so relieved. I can't believe how excited I am feeling lol XX

Thank you Bluegirluk.

Oh dont worry hunni I did exactly the same I had gained over a stone and was just getting myself back on track when i got the call lol so i was around the same weight on my op date as i was several months previous when i saw Reagan lol no one questioned it and the main thing is your liver has shrunk :) don't stress it ............ it wont even get mentioned lol i was terrified they would say 'oi you've lost nothing since blah' but nothing.................. even now they only go by my weight the morning of the op lol

Thank you my lovely. All very reassuring. Going to have my favourite meal on the last evening before preop diet starts. But apart from that one meal, I am sticking rigidly to everything x x

I think they would worry if you went back plus 4 stones LOL Reagan even mentioned along the way about people going out and having a complete pig out before they get to op........ maybe that's why they don't give the date until very near to stop the likely-hood lol

i wasnt even weighed on op day so last weigh was at pre op and they were happy with what i had lost even though it wasnt the total % they wanted

Just had some funny looks in Morrison's as I bought 56 yoghurts, a tub of veggy boullion powder, a bottle of sugar free peach squash and 7 sugar free jelly sachets. Lol

Think my local iceland wondered what I did with all the yogurts I bought 24 every 3 days they must be missing my custom lol
