November 2013 Surgeries

when you make it without a maker if i remember rightly you put in freezer then every couple hours go a give a whisk to remove crystals from it and end up with a smooth ice cream

That's right princess. You need to make a custard. So use a pint of milk. Warm in a saucepan but don't let it catch. Add sweetener and vanilla essence. Best 4 large egg yolks and add to the warm milk stirring constantly until it starts to thicken. Then allow to cool, then pour into machine or put into a tub and freeze for an hour. Keep taking it out and forking it through so crystals don't form. Repeat this until set.

To make a low fat creamy sauce, use corn flour to thicken. For a honey and mustard type sauce, I use chicken stick, Dijon mustard and sweetener. It will thicken when it reduces but you can add corn flour. A heaped teaspoon full mixed to a paste with a little water. Add to the sauce and keep stirring until thickened.

Thanks Kimberly but I just have lost my taste for anything like ice cream and yoghurt. I think because I've dumped twice on yoghurt I've gone right off it. I'm eating dairylea triangles for my snacks or a tiny glass of milk is ok xx

so sorry to hear your mum is poorly aswell hope you both feel better soon keep your chin up and remember we are all here for you

Hi Kim, don't know who to ask about first. Has your mum had her surgery yet? Sounds like she's made of tough stuff the last thing I'd be worried about is my rollers! It's a painful condition. And how are you is the nausea still as bad today? X

Hey Audra, 1 week to go! How are you doing? Ive been reading but not posting :)

Ive been sleeping loads lately, til 10am! So brekkie is more like a brunch :p I have been eating more, snacking on fromage frais or cottage cheese mixed with tomato chutney. And ive got my bottle with me all the time. Constantly sipping diluted cranberry juice atm, my wee stings in the mornings lol I weighed myself yesterday, lost another 4lbs. That's 30lbs since the start of the pre op 6 weeks ago. Over 2 stone! Im amazed but still a lil disappointed, not as much as others. I guess if I keep a 4lb loss a week up that will equal a over stone a month. Not quite under 20st yet though. 7lbs to go til im a teenie!

That is brilliant over a stone a month!! Don't play mind games with yourself this is your op and your weight loss! There will always be someone worse off and someone better off, your right where you should be with great results! Watch out for that stinging though. Get your urine dip sticked at your surgery if it Carries on. I'm fine just moving into second time around panic mode, am I going to mess up Christmas for the kids, will I cope, all the normal worries and anxieties! Milks still going down ok. Got pre op tomorrow. Still got wrapping to do and the non fresh Christmas food shopping I'll do on Monday. I bet they will have eaten it all by the time I get out of hospital! :) X

That may be a blessing! The food may make you feel a lil sick seeing everyone enjoying it. Not because you cant have it but because this new you doesnt need it!
Good luck with the pre op hun :) It'll be a breeze, you're a pro at this. How is your cold? Are you better now?

I have never, ever been able to lose this amount of weight before! I am really really pleased with myself. Over 2 stone!! I need to think; the weight will come off, it doesnt matter when, slow and steady wins the race etc One step at a time :p Upping my food & liquid first, get used to that and the vitamins, Let the weight go by itself. Easier said than done though!

Take things easy and you wont mess anything up for the kids. DON'T push yourself like I did!! Rest, sip, rest, sip, rest, sip :) Make sure you have a comfortable armchair, reclining if possible or a pouffe? Blankets, cozy jammies & slippers. You can enjoy Christmas on your bum! :p Take it while you can, a size 10 you next year will be a busy bee, all over the place! Let your husband and children experience all you normally do over Christmas and im sure they'll appreciate you and what you do a whole lot more :)
