November 2014 Surgeries

Well I had my say and I apologise to anyone who works in the Nhs when confronted with resolving a problem the explanation you get always starts with it wasnt my fault. Frankly I am not interrsted in the blame game, just how it is going to be resolved. So having had my say with the doc who flounced

Saturday weigh in and I'm 4lbs down. And happy with that.

Well done Maggy that's great :)

I've only lost 1lb this week so a bit disappointed but was expecting it to slow right down at this point and its still 17lb lost since op so can't complain.

Aww TB it sounds like you're having a terrible time there.

I ended up taking my meds whole straight after the op, wasn't really given a choice but thankfully I could tolerate them ok.

I hope you get sorted soon and manage to get home x

Oh I got disconnected. Anyway the doc flounced off in a huff and the sister then decided to have a go for not making adequate arrangements for Mr TB to be looked after. Big mistake on her part. When I had finished with her the pharmacist was with me within 5 mins. He has gone to sort out what should have been done yesterday and should be done in an hour. I am very disappointed my stay has ended this way.

TB x

ow no. all ot wud have taken was the doc/nurse to ring pharmaxy in the first place. its people like that who give the rest of us nurses/docs a bad reputation. im glad they r finaly sorting it for u and u can go home to rest x

Looking forward to it jib. The Costa that saved me yesterday does not look as if it opens today so I cannot even get a hot cup of peppermint tea. I was offered a half glass of orange juice watered down which I took although I dont usually have juice and that was ok although the trapped wind is still playing a part. These early days are interesting.

The pharmacist has just brought the meds down as he knew I would end up waiting for someone from the ward to collect them. I am now timing how long it takes to bring me then and my discharge letter. Two mins and counting.

Hello all. I am still in hospital. I had the band removed and converted to a sleeve. I have not been able to keep fluids down so I have been on a drip constantly. I have had two barium swallow tests and the sleeve is fine so they are not, sure, what is causing the sickness. Congrats to Gweni, icawm and finally sharona. We all made it safely through and that is the important. I just want to go home. TB x
. Congrats! I also could not tolerate even sips of water for a couple of days after my sleeve, it does get better! Hang in there, rest up and get better xx

Omg!! Think I've died and gone to heaven!!! After 4 weeks of puree I have just eaten my first 'proper' meal of very slow cooked just fall off the bone lamb shank with mashed swede and potato wedge. It didn't even fill half a tea plate and I'm stuffed!! but it's the first time I've used a plate and had anything to chew in 6 weeks and it feels great :) The first 2 weeks after my op I really struggled and had some regrets so if anyone is feeling like that - it really does get better :)
. Brilliant! Today is my first day of purée food and I have no idea what to shop for! Is there anything you can share or recommend please? Any ideas would be really appreciated! Lamb sounds aaaahhhmayyyyzing! Nom! X

Hi all im on the other side. I had my bypass. Was first on the list due to my on going health probs . Went down at 9am then back up on ward for 2pm. Still in hospital . Surgeon told me i did a great pre op diet as liver was shrunk well. So all that worry over op was for nothing. suffered a lot a lot of pain whilst in recovery but my nurse next to me was great! There checking for a possible chest infection as I'm coughing and this is putting pressure on my wounds but however I'm ok. feeling so so tired at moment but will fill you all in when i am able.
. Get that cough better, so pleased you are on the other side, look forward now to a new you! Keep us updated :). How are you doing today? X

For puree I generally puréed whatever hubby was having!!

I had things like:
bolognese (puréed without the pasta),
salmon with mashed potato - also did it with a white sauce with light Philly,
quorn sausage and baked beans,
slow cooked meat/chicken with gravy and veg,
green lentils and courgettes in tomato sauce
Chickpeas
Stewed fruit

I found that most things puree quite well with enough 'sauce'
