On Diet only to be told, operation cancelled

It happens a lot, mine was cancelled as I stood outside the operating theatre door. Mine was cancelled because another bariatric patient was bleeding to death internally and needed the theatre more than I did. In retrospect I'm glad that mine was cancelled and their life was saved. I'd never have forgiven myself if the other person had died because I'd taken the last theatre slot available.

Yes it is horrible when you get cancelled and very often inconvenient too but if saving someones life means we have to wait a few weeks longer then so be it. We got ourselves in this state over a long time and a few weeks more isn't going to make any difference in the long run. Hope it all goes smoothly for you next time.

Yeah, you read right. I was struggling on the diet and my husband has taken time off work ( 2 weeks) and cant cancel it, so iuts time wasted, I've got my bag packed all childcare & extra help in order, only to be told no your ops cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances" What can you do?:cry:

Hope things get sorted for you soon...Must be a nightmare.

I'd have gone nuts if that had happened to me. It's very hard to put yourself in the shoes of whoever needs the surgeon more than you do. I feel for you, and I really hope you get top priority next time, you deserve it!
