this is for anyone that may of missed the new thread called SUNDERLAND SUPPORT GROUP. we will still meet in the metrocentre as planned on the 25th, the details below is information on the official support group that will start at the hospital in september.....



Myself and bypass.sarah will be doing the 1st official support group at sunderland royal hospital on september 3rd which will be on a thursday. This will be in a room in the education centre in sunderland hospital. The meeting will run from 6-8pm, everyone is welcome both pre and post op and your more than welcome to bring a partner/friend for moral support.

so please feel free to come along for a chat, if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

hi everyone. Do they take blood and test it as part of our group sessions? ive heard they do and alot of people fail the tests and therefore dont qualify for surgery?

Err well I don't know who is filling you with that rubbish, as mentioned before I have already been to the group meeting and never had any bloods taken! Les

I think someone is scaremongering as there are no bloods done at the group session. Only height and weight so they can work out your BMI. So dont worry.
Lesley have you had a date yet?

hi michael the new patient group meeting you attended didnt take any blood, if they want blood at any point they will discuss that with you personally at a 1-2-1 consultation.

Hi Jan, nope still waiting, not a happy bunny, I was at my group session at the begining of April so I am now in my 4th month of waiting for the next appointment. On a positive note, my eyes are fully healed and I got the all clear to start going to the pool so I have started aqua fit... I have been twice and I am now starting to suffer, my muscles are now shouting cooeee we are here!!!! Thank god it is in the water I hate to think how much I would suffer if at the gym.

Hi all. I hope you are well. I'm just back from a break visiting the in-laws in Somerset - i've been without internet so just catching up on the forum. have i missed anything ? !!
I'm going in search of the new Sunderland thread mentioned earlier - hope i can find it.
BTW - re blood tests - at my second appointment the doc gave me a list of blood tests they wanted me to have and i had to go to my GP and have them done, then have the results sent up to Sunderland, but i definitely got the impression it was just a routine check of all basics. Two of those bloods were skewiff too, my thyroid had dipped again and i was very anaemic but Sunderland haven't contacted me about it so i'm presuming they're not concerned as long as i get the levels improved ahead of surgery.

I have also been referred to Sunderland and am waiting for first appointment letter so we should keep in regular contact about developments. It is 2 weeks yesterday that my GP agreed to refer so hoping to hear very shortly.

hi sarjoamy, you are very welcome as sarah said to join us at the metrocentre in costa coffee at 4pm this saturday (25th), its just a small group of pre and post op people that goes to sunderland or waiting to go, it would be nice if you could attend.

Thank you for your invitation for tomorrow and if I had known earlier I would definitely have come, unfortunately I won't be able to make it, but I hope you have a lovely time. It definitely helps knowing there is support out there and people who have already been through what is ahead so I really look forward to getting to know you on here and meeting you in person hopefully very soon.

I have read all the pages on this thread with huge interest and feel I know more now than I did a day ago, so thank you for that.

Hurray it has arrived my next appointment, YIPEE :gimi:and fantastic timing it is the week before I go on holiday. 27th August, talk about giving sufficient notice! Anyway it has cheered me up no end. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
