Procedure for Sunderland

Hi everyone, sorry i've not been around much but i've had so much uni work to do that i've had to avoid all distractions ! Hope you are all ok.
Well done Liz on the 10lbs, you must feel great to finally be back on track. Hows things going with your son ? Say hi to your hubby for me.
Janie - brill news that you are that bit further forward and it must be reassuring to at least have the next appointment date. I am pleased they are setting such realistic goals !!

hi jayne, the weight loss i didnt realise i had done as my scales is always different to the hospitals, ryan my son is eating ok for now, all going well, ive put him on packed lunches this week at school and its been ok so far, i did this because this new healthy eating law they have introduced at school is nutts, they gave him 1 day last week salad with mince & dumplings, they have to have 3 items on there tray, if they dont want the half cooked veg they serve they have to have the salad now its madness, no wonder hes gagging at school and coming home hungry.

oh well thats my rant over.

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been on line for a while, bit mad at work, I had my group consultation on Thursday along with my weigh in, boy have I put the weight on! But I am starting the diet again tomorrow, dietician has said any weight lost is a bonus, but not to worry too much as she knew we were all able to loose weight. From my side, I have to loose weight, I can't stand too long as my back kills, I have a touring caravan and could only just fit through the doors, never mind the fun and games trying to use the loo this weekend. I want to go away at the next bank holiday and hopefully enjoy the experience a bit more, which if I loose the weight I will.

Hiya Lesley
How did you find the group meeting ?
You sound as if its motivated you to get back on track - think i could do with a burst of that too as i have let things slip a bit.
Too long between appointments for me i think and my attention span has evaporated ! I think maybe i need a motivational get together !!

Hi Jayne good to hear from you. I already had the mindset that the group session was going to be the starting point of my new life (after the familiy Easter holidays)! I am this morning enrolling with Rosemary Connely again (on line) to get myself back in check.
I now have something to work to, which is the operation and the new slim me!

Got an envelope today with the post mark Sunderland, dead excited and then I realised it was as Jayne had mentioned the letter to the Doctor confirming that I attended the group session. What a downer! Any way when are we next going to meet up? I think we are due another chin wag and a laugh!

Just got my date for my second appointment - isn't it fab when those daft little envelopes plop onto the doormat !
I go on the 18th May - so for those of you behind me in the process at Sunderland that has meant a 4 month gap between 1st & 2nd appointment.
That gives me just over two weeks to make sure i've shifted anything i might have gained (i daren't get on the scales to see if i have put anything on but i really don't feel like i have lost anything) I'm so excited - its really cheered me up.
With regards to us getting together i am stuck in this weekend finishing my last 3 uni assignments for this year (only another 3 more years to go :(), then i am looking after my brothers 3 kids while he jets off to Texas. I would be available again Sat 23rd / Sun 24th if thats any good to anyone ? (the weekend after is okay too)

Brilliant News Jayne, 4 months! knowing my luck it will be five by the time I get my next appointment, but if not, that means that I will have mine in July. I am away this weekend so the end of the month would be fine for me.

just wanted to say - I'm under Mr Small at Sunderland Royal, he's doing my op on 12th.. for me - I had to go to gp several times in last few years all to no avail and was only after a different surgeon refused me an op I needed and referred me back to gp - did gp take notice.

I'd been on Xenical, WW, slimfast, healthy eating etc.. could lose weight but not permanently.

First step was seminar last july 08 at S.R.H and was weighed, then had appointment in october 08 with Mr Balpuri and dietician, went back again in dec 08 after tests that were needed doing ( MUST stress - not everyone needs tests - majority depends on how appointment goes and details you give him) - had test for O.S.A (came back yep.. got it n now use c.p.a.p at night), had blood tests done twice, gastroscopy with biopsy and pics (that was latest one back in march 09) and was told in dec 08 by Mr Small himself - that due to the fact I'd achieved the goal I'd been given in the oct, I could have my operation.
At that point - the waiting list was 5months. I was due to hear by end of april 09 and on 22nd - when had heard nothing, I rung to see what was going on - and given my operation date over the phone then received letter confirming it.. had my pre-op assessment last week and got given all clear (bp checks, blood took, ecg, weight checked and urine spec given) and the lovely nurse went over details and answered questions both me and OH had..

they are wonderful staff and am sure they will make you feel as much as ease as they did us and no doubt anyone else on here who have been through their doors..

good luck and remember.. its a journey.. well done for taking the first steps..

I am up for the Metro Centre on the 23rd, hope everyone realises that it is bank holiday weekend! Can I suggest that we meet somewhere a bit more quieter this time and have a way of identifying each other. Lessons learnt from last time!
