September 2014 Surgeries

I'm pleased you are up and about. That's what I worry about - being stuck in bed.

I'm not thinking too far ahead, just focussing on getting through to Sunday.

Hope tomorrow is even better for you Llora x

I am sure your body will tell you if you need to move around or stay in bed :) i was up and walking on the same day as the surgery. (With my husband as a company). Just around the wards there with my drain scaring kids!(that were visiting someone) :) but it made me feel a lot better straight away ;) yes i was dizzy the first time i went, yes i needed to stop and rest, but i felt a lot less dizzy at the end when i came back to my room. And the nurses were all happy with me walking around so it was reassuring i was not doing any damage to myself.

I am fine. Struggling to find a comfy position at times as i have some back and neck pain today . I think its because of my bad posture atm as i keep catching myself standing or walking or even sitting in the different unusual/unatural way :) for example i am typing this msg kneeling on the floor with my elbows resting on the edge of bed! As if i sit up one of the wounds get sore if i lean back my back hurts :) My mug with peppermint tea seem to be stuck to my hand today :) trying to get more fluids in.. But nowhere even near to a healthy amount yet. Other than tea i managed the rest of my complan milkshake for breakfast, then some tomato and lentl soup for lunch (all blended, strained and with some added water), then some yougurt (strained with added milk) and finally some carrot and parsley soup for dinner (also strained and with a splash of water to make it more runny). Trying to have my variety as i dont want to get too bored of the same and the same things! ;) Gave myself the lovely injection to my stomach this morning. Stockings keep cuting into my legs. Wish the bruises on my arm and legs would go away.. But i am so surprised that i am actually feeling that well. Never threw up, never felt sick yet.. Hope i continue that way... Went for a walk today, only had one nap, did washing up and even cooked breakfast and lunch for my husband (even though he took time off work to take care of me) :) but i feel better moving around slowly than sitting down all the time :) i do get out of breath easily, but i am sure its normal :)

So good to hear that you're up and about I've only got two more sleeps and I'm full of apprehension as to what I will be able to manage after it's good to hear that you are doing so well x

I am sure everyone is different! So you can never be sure. But i was really scared i will be in terrible pain and wont be able to get up out of bed even to make myself tea (thats why my husband was instructed to take a whole week off) :)

All the best for you and hope your surgery will be smooth and you'll have a speedy recovery :)

Today I tried half a bovril cube in hot water , ahead of my liver shrinkage diets which starts tomorrow, bovril is on my list of drinks
I'm not a great meat eater ,so the smell of the bovril is enough to put me off, my nose curled up with the first sip. Something I'm gonna have to get used to,I guess?

It's amazing what we will do to get to the surgery safely. :)

Good luck.

It's still sat here the mug , nearly cold, , sipping it slowly ,with my mum trying to encourage me to drink it, my parents used to drink it when they were kids, they love it, it's gross.lol

That's how I feel about yoghurt which is why I was so relieved to find my LSD was the restricted food style. Sooooo pleased.

Same diet I am on ,I had the choice , milk or restricted food, how you been on it, I start in the morning

Brilliant. Excitement carried me through day one and two Day three was tough but then it fell into place. It's a lot to eat and I found the total volume hard at the start but now it's good.

I lost 10lb in the first 9 days and only got 4 days left to go. I've started a countdown diary on another thread called RNY ready, steady. Go - or something similar. It's keeping me focused.

Hi all I had my surgery Tuesday evening. I was nil by mouth for a further 24 hours which was hard, but I was able to rinse my mouth and spit. That first glass of water was good but the cup of tea that followed was even better. I've had no pain just minor discomfort. Have had trouble passing urine and I'm in a bit of retention. Determined not to have the catheter put back in so trying to move about as much as possible. Had milkshake for breakfast and got soup for lunch x

Hey gang.

I disappeared for a while as there was some uncertainty as to my op date but I have booked for 28th September. I can't quite believe it's happening. Started reducing my food intake. My pre-op starts on Saturday. I'm using Weight to Go surgery package as it seemed the no brainer option. Feeling slightly nervous but now I have to get my head in the game now.

Hi guys! I haven't been on as much but I thought I'd add my date here. I'll be having my gastric bypass on September 16th, at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, yay!

Started my pre-op Monday the 1st and lost 10lbs in 11 days. Had my pre-op assessment yesterday and it all went well. It's been hard but worth it.

Thankfully I stumbled upon a post by Yvessa about using the knorr chicken stockpot and the ham stock cube with milk and that is what's saving me as I can't stand bovril. The ham cube is my favourite as with milk it tastes like a creamy bacon soup. So there's a tip for those that can have stock on their pre op diet :)

Also if you are allowed Muller Lights, try the "sprinkled with chocolate" range. Specially the vanilla/cherry one! Tastes like black forest gateau! Same 99 calories as the fruit ones.

Wow sounds like you are doing well. I hope you. Don't need the catheter back.

Went in for my surgery at 07:30 this morning and after 4hours they came and told me there were no beds so my surgery had been cancelled. Got a new date 22/10/14 so hopefully I will become an October surgery girl!
