Surgery Abroad Czech or Denmark

I found having someone there v reassuring but I don't think I would have struggled on my own either if that makes sense. How are you generally travelling on your own etc?xx

I paid 6k for the band and ive only lost 2 stone! Not worth 6k in my book and a band is very hard to get to use too. Your constantly vomiting and its very hard work.

Banana I'm generally ok travelling alone. I think it's more to put my family back home minds at ease.
Donna sorry to hear about your band. I'm guessing you had it done in the uk for that price! Hopefully the weight will drop off once your sleeved!!

Yes I did ZMI

And yes I am really hoping the weight will definitely drop off with a sleeve and I will be a skinny Minnie once again

It was the same for me - my mum wouldn't have let me go alone bless her!!

I honestly only had one complaint about the clinic and that was their pillows, I just couldn't get comfortable as they were like big square pillows. Not like the rectangular ones here. The place is super super clean though. Maybe consider bringing one of those neck travel pillows.

Another tip would be to bring a tiny bottle of NAS squash just to give the water a bit more flavour as it did get a little boring.

I'm also a vegetarian and they made sure that my clear soup was veggie friendly for me which was really good :) x

The pre op tests are also very thorough, the surgeon does check all test results/findings before confirming that they are going ahead with surgery in the afternoon xx

Yes they do. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't very pleasant.

You can opt to be knocked out but there is a fee for that. Check that with Vendy, I can't recall exactly how much it was as I thought I'd be grand doing it without. That's the only thing I'd change to be honest!! And that's the only thing there was a fee for xx

I have had a endoscopy before but was semi awake and even then I gagged! So you are totally awake! that must be very uncomfortable? I'm gona ask Vendy to find out cost of it beforehand, because worth it for £50 + I would say lol

Oh no I'm dreading it lol! Also how many insicions did you have? Where the stitches dissolvable or did u have to have them removed. I hate the thought of anything being done to me while awake!

I think the incision are made on the day of the operation and there are about 4 small scares. I know this because of the gastric band and yes stitches are dissolvable.

I would recommend getting knocked out, don't mean to scare you's but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy- it was the worst part of the whole process for me!

You have all of the tests listed on surgal clinics page re pre op tests. All appointments are swiftly attended to and everyone I met was lovely. I'll try to remember them all: mental check ;) ECG heart rate etc, urine, blood, ultrasound, chest xray, breathing test, and the endoscopy. The blood and urine are taken at about 5/6am on surgery day.

My surgical sites have healed very well. I had five in total, closed with stitches which needed removed about 12 days later. The nurse at my GPs surgery took them out for me. She was full of praise for what id done bless her, felt good to be praised :)

Don't be worrying - as long as you're open in your medical questionnaire and throughout the tests you'll be just fine :) x

I am booking with my GP this week to inform them that I am about to go abroad and have this procedure done. Fingers crossed they support me

If there's anything else I can be answering fire away! I was v lucky that I had known someone who went before me and wouldn't have had the guts to go for it without them. So I'm more than happy to help you guys where I can xx
