yes ben do it. im defo going to enquire

Hey all :D
xx

I'm sure BENPCT do it because I remember seeing a poster in my GP waiting room saying 'Ask your doctor about exercise on prescription'.

Ha! My post above was the 2,000th on this thread!

BEN PCT do it, I was referred by my GP but from what i remember it was going to end up costing me money it wasn't totally free... I think at the time i was going virtually every day as recommended by the instructor who sets a plan out for you.. I don't think i was just given it and I went and used it as and when I liked...

So it was the gym one day then swimming another day and so on with aqua aerobics chucked in there.. So the 12 sessions didn't even last a fortnight and it worked out much cheaper to just join the gym and that included the use of all fertilities at all the Birmingham leisure centers... Before it all got going i had to wait for a induction appointment and there was like a three week wait for that and at that time in my life I needed it there and then or I'd never do it...

At the time it was costing me a small fortune because i was doing toning tables also. I really chucked my heart and sole into it but became very disheartened when i had the band fitted and began to experience all the problems I had.

Allie I was the same week three was my worst week just totally fed up of liquids, didn't fancy anything and really struggled to get the fluids in I was so tired and lethargic, Been on sloppies two and a half weeks now and feel so much better.

Iv hit a two week platue every bypasser I know is reasuring me its normal at this stage, our bodies hit a stand still and needs time to adjust I lost 31lb in three and a half weeks then stopped, My period was a week late and the second platue week was my period week iv been reassured that now im on sloppies and that period is out the way things should kick in... It's a huge shock to the system our bodies just need time to catch up... there is no way im over eating tats an impossible reason it's all down to starvation mode and a shock to the system.

You will pick up once on slopp's I struggled to keep anything down at first but since Iv started to use lactofree products I've not been sick once... Life is a lot more comfortable ..[/quote]

Hiya Alex, thanks for that, I am now really bored with fluids. Did you start purees early? I have tried some smash & gravy and it felt ok, but am worried its too soon. I just don't fancy anything at the moment and I'm having to really push myself to drink, let alone drink things I can't stand like fortimel and milk! :( Any advice anybody?

When is the next meet?
xx

Hello everyone it was nice to meet you all at the cafe.

Has anyone any news on Janey?

Was lovely to meet you too Vic, we'll have to do it again soon.

Not heard from Janey so Im assuming that means she has gone in for her op. Wishing her a speedy recovery xx

Cool..i shall look forward to it :D

How is everyone?
xx

Allie, I will admit I did try weetabix and readybreak but only tiny amounts.. It's not too early it's just our specific surgeon has different rules most other people are on sloppies by the time they leave hospital!

i totally know how your feeling it was awful it's difficult to explain that you just can't get stuff in any one would think it's the easiest thing in the world to sip water but it's not when you feel like you do. I didn't drink them fortimel drinks i tasted it but to be honest they just stunk of vomit i couldn't face them at all...

Have you tired sugar free jelly? I think i tried my first slops at week three so a week early but they was very tiny quantities and it wasn't every meal..

This feeling does pass and as soon as you start your slops you will pick up loads i feel great now...

Hi all - I'm a newbie and have my 1st appt at Walsall Manor today at 7.30pm. It says weight management? Thats not a group thing is it as my GP was supposed to have referred me for gastric surgery?
I'm very nervous about this now as you may be able to tell - i'm still on the internet at 20 past 1 in the morning and I have work at 8!
Any info on my 1st appt will be appreciated:)
I'm off to bed now but my stomachs churning!
I'll check back tomorrow
Thanks
Mandy

Hi Mandy and welcome,
Sorry cant give you any info on first app as not yet been but tons of others will be able too. I'm sure its an app by what read already they do do late app.
Good luck wishing you all the best

Ali

good luck for your appointment today Mandy. It wont be a group thing. You should see Dr Hartland and Ana, and possibly Mr Khan and the dietician. You should get your yes or no for surgery today as well.

Oh and welcome to Mini's xx

Welcome to Minis My first appointment was weight, Dietian and Dr Hartland But was there about 3 hours

Hi and welcome to minis - The 1st appointment is normlly to talk through the different types of surgery avilable and to talk about you and any medical issues. Then they normlly tell you what surgery is best for you - but it is still your choice as to whether you want a band or bypass.

The only thing i would say is go in with an open mind as many people hve gone in wanting a band and come out opting for a bypass as it would be better long term for them. Dr Hartland and Mr Khan are both lovely haven't met any of the other team yet. Please let us know how you get on. Look forward to speaking to you soon.
HTH

Terri xXx

OMG Terri, its your appointment tomorrow. I wonder if you will be given your op date when you go!

I know am getting a bit impatient now as I want my date as I have got so much that I need to get done before my op and just need the date as an incentive to get them done lol. I sat down and if the 6 week timescale (roughly 6 weeks from seeing mr youseff) is acurrate that takes me to mid april - but cause I have got things planned for the Thursday and Saturday of Easter week you can bet when my date will be, - I know that might sound a bit spoilt and selfish to some people but I just hate letting people down its nothing that I can't get out of but its the hassle it will cause others if I drop out, but on the other hand I don't want to turn down any op daates cause I just want it done. Its just the waiting that kettles my brain lol
