Thanks Lorna, is that a glass or 3 bottles I have some here if you need more, I'll be in the chat room after 8 or you can pm or email anytime you need too off load chuck Expose Email or if your on fb later i'll hook up with you on chat.

No need for more wine, I have a winebank set up with Virgin Wines and had a lovely big order before Xmas! Still got a few of those, although it's the really expensive £10+ bottles left, so don't want to raid them yet!

And I really don't feel too bad! I was initially upset, disappointed and angry, but decided to do what I could today in talking to the various people and then to start focusing my energies on getting the appeal sorted out. I talked to Kim for a while today and she was great, and said they will do everything they can to get the funding (well, I don't think they need to worry too much about meeting their financial targets this year!). No point moping and being miserable, it's a dangerous spiral to get in, getting more and more miserable all the time - can feel much better if I don't get worked up about it.

I ma not 100% sure if it is my pre0op i have had no letter

Sorry Rach, I think you are expecting things to happen too quickly.

Dont mean to be negative but you have only just had your first appointment.

If Dr H told you it was a pre op you should have no reason to doubt him. They might not issue a letter until they have a date for your 2nd pre op available as well. Everyone else has been notified of their first and second pre op at the same time.

What a fantastic attitude Lorna, and it sounds like you've made a good start on getting an appeal underway.

I really hope this works out for you.

Rach - when I spoke to someone re dates recently they said they had got a first date for me but not the second and couldn't send out the letter until they did. It's the lack of anaesthetist appointments causing the delay.

I proberly am being too impatient...but i cant help it i have been waiting for this for years as i am sure many others have too...

I just need to know what sort of scale i am going to have to be on etc...

I hate not being planned or pre-pared...i feel not in control of things i i seriously hate that feeling..

I am just going to have to do something else to keep my mind busy.

Sorry everyone

Yup, exactly, as we have said several times here. After I got my MBE with my two pre-op dates in. I rang & offered myself for any cancellations (gosh, I felt so cheap! ;)). Tracey explained that Mr. Yousseff's is the difficult one as he [then] only ran clinics on Tuesdays but that they were trying to get more clinics put in.

Before Lorna got her catastrophic news today (which even I am p*ss*d off about and it ain't even me!), her 2nd pre-op date was in June! That's how stretched the clinic is.

shame they aint got another anethsatist I saw him for my pre op but it was a woman that did me on the day

Rach,

Here's some honest advice hun. Read the threads carefully and you will see that the waiting times vary across the country for both NHS and private. You will also pick up posts from some people who are in a sorry, desperate state who have been fighting for funding and even GP approcval for referral for years, let alone waiting for the surgery.

Reading this thread alone we have varying waiting/process times; Teen being the fastest from start to op, I think - 16 weeks? I'll stand corrected.

My journey from walking into the GP's surgery to 1st pre-op will have been circa 24 weeks and then I will have a further 'n' weeks wit for the op, which may well get cancelled as some have said is wont to happen at WM.

It will not help you if you keep fretting. I would spend the time soaking up as much information about the procedure as you can, read the post-op Mini's experiences, especially with regard to nutrition and pouch management and maybe also start a plan to get yourself in tip top condition for surgery.

Thanks Red...to be honest i have got info coming out of my ears. I have been looking into having surgery since i was 20 years old and never plucked up the courage to have it done.

Now that i am actually waiting to see doctors etc...its getting to me.

I think maybe the best thing is to not come on here for a while and then i wont see what other people are doing while i feel like i am just sitting down waiting.

I am sorry everyone...i know that everyone is going through a hard time too, but i dont think i can deal with this...it is a bit too much for me.

Sorry guys.

x

Rach we all hate being in control and not being able to plan in advance but its only for the next 2-3 months then you will get your dates and can start planning. You can keep your mind busy on your wedding and before you know it you will have had your op and be walking down the isle.

Just imagine being under a pct where you have to go through 12 months of specialised weight management before they will even consider you for surgery. There are also people like natalie who is in agony and cannot eat most days because of her gall bladder problems and they cannot bring forward her appointments and she suffers in silence.

I consider myself extremely luck to have gone through this process with out to much waiting and yes it does get on my nerves my my motto now is what is waiting for a couple of months compared to the rest of my life and the things it will bring i.e hopefully coming off incapacity benefit and returning to work and doing normal things like moms should with their kids ie swimming, the park and going on the trampoline.

Hi everyone this is my first time on here am due for my gastric bypass on the 8th March. my first visit to wal back in August last :Dear.

:welcome: Janey! We are a happy, some say downright barmy bunch here! Tell us where you are and about your journey to date. I'll just pop the kettle on... ;) BRB!

Hi guy's not been around for the most simple reason this forum is sooo big I get lost forget where I have posted and how to re find it posts lol

Anyways.. Lorna I know you are takeing the news well... BUT FIGHT em!

BEN PCT told me they didn't fund revisions and look at me now 26lb down 4 weeks post op today a band to bypass revision... I fought and I won..

You have the right to apply for ALL copies of the paperwork hat was sent in and have a full explanation of why they refused you. You also have the right to see written copies of there funding policy .
This is where I got BEN PCT by the short and curlies... they told me they didn't fund revisions I ask to see a copy of the written policy. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE!!! It was a case of that it's not that they didn't fund they just hadn't funded...

I have a friend on my facebook page who works for south staffs PCT I'm sure she will have some valuable advice... though I think she's away on holiday in a few days...

I would appeal and please feel free to ask any advice... Do you know of any one who has been funded in south staffs? If they have funded before they are more likely to fund again.... You may also stand a better fighting chance once the new financial year has started. I was granted funding in March last year they dragged out the appeal and I'm convinced it was purely a time waister they just dragged it out until the new financial year.

Sam huge congratulations on the news xxx
