Weigh In at the Bander's Cafe!

Crystal has never had a fill so it's possible Blossom I suppose
My surgeon said that there is no positive proof about the hunger hormone getting blocked , but he doesn't discount it either as he said it perfectly feasible ..
So will you go ahead with a fill or wait a while longer ?

We must have been posting at the same time Mindy!!

Yay go you another fab weight loss!!

Slow cooker recipe looks fab. Be sure to let us know what it's like x x x

You'll be fab over the next couple of weeks. Load's of protein and staying hydrated x x x

That I don't know the answer to at the mo...I think I'll see how the next couple of weeks go...things could change. But my nurse did mention I might not need a fill in my last catch up call.
I'm going to research the hunger hormone! I'll report back x x

Hey all,

So pleased for you Crystal and Lu no looking behind now just keep moving forwards...you can do this lovely lady!

Can I talk restriction? Needing some advice...is it possible that I have restriction without having a band fill. I'm 4 weeks out this Thursday and still not eating a great deal and not feeling hungry. Don't get me wrong I have head hunger. But not physical hunger. A typical day is a shake for brekkie, soup at lunch and 4 tablespoons of mush for tea.

Do we have a block of the hunger hormone with the band? Or is it the placebo effect maybe?

Just needing advice as before surgery I always hungry and ate more than I would be comfortable to share on here x x x

Any thoughts?

Have a lovely rest of the week all and keep powering forward x x x

Hi blossom and thanks for your words of support! I was exactly the same when I had my band done, I didn't feel hungry for weeks and actually chose to do two and a half weeks of liquids instead of two weeks because I was scared that if I went on to mush I would start to feel starving all the time (which didn't happen, I was just being paranoid :D) it is possible to feel restriction without any fill and this feeling will eventually go so enjoy it while you can :p my provider basically told me that it wasn't unusual not to feel hungry at all as everything is still settling down and the positioning of the band can send everything (including usual hunger pangs) off for a while.

Hope this helps and well done everyone on your great losses this week! Proud of you all :)

Thanks so much!

Sterling advice...love this cafe!!

It makes absolute sense. I suppose it's easy to forget how major the surgery is and the effect it can have x x x

So I will enjoy while it lasts!!

Thanks again x x x

Morning Lu
https://lifelovefood2015.wordpress.com/2015/06/10/mary-berry-sausagemeat-lasagne/

That's the recipe .. I use a pack of 10 sausages usually just a good plain pork , and take the skins off ..
I don't add chilli because I don't like spicy heat
I put in a full bag of spinach , chopped
I don't add salt as the sausages are highly seasoned
I add one of those herb infusion stock pot gel things

And just dried herbs in the tomato sauce

No idea how healthy this is ? Your good at working it out :) But it's one of the tastiest meals I have ever eaten .. And so quick !

Afternoon girls sorry to be elusive...... my internet on blink yesterday pm uggghhh but back to normal today wooohooooo ..........thanks all for the kind words...... so lovely to see our bander community going strong :) wd all losers ..... we've got this in the bag woohooooo ........ slimmer by summer :) your so right girls never look back because where ever we are on this long road, we've all come along way already !!!!

Now restriction.....lol my fav subject LOL a band has no affect on the hunger hormone, BUT the good news is ......now listen up girls because this is the secret to being successful with our bands...... the band acts as a barrier to your tum....... its is 'meant' to slow the eating down.....if you stick to those rules 20 20 20 what will happen is : your food will bounce up and down...imaging your band as a trampoline lol every time your food passes you vagus nerve its fooled into think theres more going in than there is..... clever ehhhh so importantly the gap in between your bites is the vital part... it allows your food to bounce woohooo LOL and hey presto your head is fooled into thinking your full....... over many years of 'over eating' we (as a nation) have switched off that vagus nerve........ hence we all over eat.........

As lots of your girls mentioned that you will still be swollen insides so yes it is possible to feel no hunger BUT i warn you it will come back...that's when your fills come into play...... but as Mindy says , I've had no fills...... yes its a mind bend sometimes BUT if i follow those rules i can achieve the same results :)

Right girls...... hope you've all got a wonderful day planned...... sunshine here....... my tumbler is going lol polishing up some jewels ...... website under construction too :) had a shocking day food wise yesterday ....... sometimes that head feels it needs a reward!!! anyway back on track today and fingers crossed a few more lb's closer to target by next week :)
will try and catch up laters x x x x

I know what I wanted to say so have to write it now or will forget ..
Off to Malta in October , so we have been getting quotes for insurance .. As you know , you have to state and be truthful about medical history etc.
Hubby has high blood pressure and cholesterol .. His extra on insurance is only £5
When I told them about my band , had to answer all sorts of questions , my add in extra is .. £69 ! I am gobsmacked ..
It's because I will be inside the 6 months operation period when I go ..
I would never travel without insurance , but will get a few quotes before I settle for a company ..

Hi Mindy, when we went away in Feb I had a couple of "undiagnosed" issues as they called it, as I was still waiting for consultants appointments. I had real trouble getting any insurance, even to cover everything but those issues! I ended up going with Bupa travel insurance as they had no problem with it (excluding my knee and other issue) you can get a quote online as well. I had to speak to someone and they were great to deal with. It might be worth giving them a go? I also got a quote from medisave, which was cheaper but they didn't have brilliant reviews online.

There were some other companies but I can't remember off the top of my head - I can check tomorrow for you.

HTH

Thank you Hannah
I will give Bupa a go this evening ..
Looks like another beautiful, day out there ! Dare I say Spring is finally here ? Shhhh ..

Oh my poor bowels :(
Sorry lol
Does anyone else suffer from rock hard and huge ?
It assume it's because we have a lot of protein ? I do eat my daily quota of veg and have fibre in my smoothies .
And also I take codeine so that's well known for bunging a person up
I've been taking Senecot pills to help but this morning , ouch ! :(

Hey mindy,

are you sure youre drinking enough water? when you eat less its so much easier to become dehydrated as we get so much of our water intake from food. I had this problem when i first started!

Have a good day everyone

Glad you mentioned this Mindy, I'm going away in July and it didn't even cross my mind to check with my insurance company. Our travel insurance is part of one of the benefits that comes with our bank account so I had batter give them a call and see what the deal is as I have read that the 'freebie' travel insurances can be very limited as to what cover they offer.
