A very uplifting day, if I do say so myself !!

Bonita so glad they have found a comfortable dressing for you. How is your wound healing now?

You must feel fantastic people noticing your weight loss and managing to paint toe nails.

Well done you are an inspiration.

Bonita that is wonderful - and as you lose more weight then i'm sure you will see more and more health benefits and compliments too. Remember this time next year you will be doing things with your family you haven't been able to do for a long time.

And as for having 6 grandchildren!!!!!! i am well and truly gobsmacked!!!!!! i thought you were pushing it having children as old as you did but grandchildren - you most certainly do not look old enough. As you lose your weight you will be able to give your grandchildren a run for their money as they have to keep up with their lovely slim Nan. Hugs and fairy dust to you always xx

Awwwe Lesley you are such a lovely wonderful person, that was a really lovely thing to say, thank you. They start young in my family...lol

Its much much better now. Its not hurting at all and in fact is nothing more than a minor irritation to be honest. I do have some before, during and now photographs but not sure whether to put them up or not to be honest.

get them pics up lady be proud of the great loss so far ! be good to see what people really have to go though good and bad x

Hiya Bonita, What a traumatic experience I'm so sorry that has happened to you I hope you are recovering both physically and psychologically now?

I was talking about the wound pictures not my weight loss..lol

I'll put some pictures of the weight loss in a little while, thought I'd wait until the magazine come and take some, they might be a bit posher, last time I asked my loverly other half to take some pics I ended up with some great pictures of the carpet..Ha Ha

Ladygirl its going into Thats Life Magazine, will be in about three weeks I think.

There is a lovely story in there this week about a guy that met up with his lost love in hospital. She was a nurse and he had put on so much weight that he was suffering severe heart problems. He was very slim when they last saw each other so understandably she was very shocked.

What I found amazing and really lovely was that she saw past the weight and recognised the man that she originally fell in love with. Eventually he had a bypass and is well on the way to losing the weight and soon they hope to get married. I found it a lovely inspirational story.

Don't think he post's here though which is a shame.

Wow, what a roller coaster ride you've been on Bonita. Your story has not put me off the idea of wls even though i'll be at WM but it has made me realise that things can go wrong. But your courage, positivity and determination has shown all of us that despite this going for surgery is a good way forward when all else has failed.

Am wondering why you didn't take the 'farting' machine out with you in public, i'd have had great fun blaming other people lol, i can see why your grandkids loved it.

Well done on the weight loss, i nearly cried when you said you brought trousers too big for you. You certainly have earned every pound loss you've had. Continue to grow stronger and healthier every day, thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi Julie, there are quite a few of us from WM. My op was in May. I feel so positive about myself now. It is by no means an easy choice as Bonita's experience shows, but the outcome makes it all worth it. I think there are 15 Bypasses each week at WM. Although this is major surgery, most people have a positive experience. As I was being discharged I met a girl 6 months down the line. She looked great (was in for a gallbladder op) and was very positive about her experience which made me feel better.
You will feel rough to begin with, but it's amazing how quickly most people recover.
I'm glad you're not put off by what happens to others, we are all different and so our bodies respond differently.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Bonita -sorry. x x

Thank you Bonita.

We all need to make a difficult but informed choice. I think it is all to easy to ignore the medics info on the fact that things can go wrong. It makes it more real to hear from real people about their experience.

But most importantly for me is the fact that despite this major ordeal you still believ that it is worth it.

So Thank you

Thats ok my lovely, I couldn't have put it any better myself. as Ladybird says they do 15 plus operations a week and only a very small handfull of those had any sort of problems. Almost all of them were in and out within three days.

Went to hospital today to supposedly to see Mr Khan and Anna but Mr Khan is on holiday so saw a Mr Sedah who seemed very pleasant.

Firstly I was weighed and nearly fell off the scales. Its 11 days since I was last weighed and I've lost a stone and a half in that time.

We discussed this and adding it to the fact that I'm still quite sickly and struggling to get onto solid foods as its getting stuck and hurting, Mr Sedah thought it best that I have an xray next Tues just to make sure everything is ok on the inside.

He was very pleased with my wound and announced that it no longer needed packing, took a swab and said just to put a cover dressing on and keep it clean. Still no swimming mind!!!! Deeeerrr ...lol

I don't know whether to be cock-a-hoot about this weight loss or worried though, but decided to look on the bright side so.......
:talk017::talk017::talk017: another 14.6lbs off forever..
Lol

Got the photographer coming on Monday morning for the magazine shoot, so am off to buy a new posh frock tomorrow. Shame it will still probably be Evans... But not for long now eh..:D

Wow Bonita, thats amazing! Hope you find a nice dress, you may be lucky and get some bargains in the sales - what ever you buy wont fit you for long!

Maz x

Bloody hell Bonita - Fantastic weight loss.

Great news that they are happy with your wound. Have fun shopping x

Fun day today. Had the photographer come round for the magazine. I was dreading it but he was lovely and it really was fun in the end.

Had to go to the doctors this afternoon and decided because it was lovely and warm I would walk there, meant to catch a taxi back if it was too much but ended up walking back to. That was two whole miles I walked this afternoon, unbloodybelievable...... I couldn't have done that four months ago.

Woo Woo Bonita - excellent news on your walk to doctors and your session with the photographer. It is lovely to see you are starting to enjoy life again. Hugs with fairy dust to keep that sparkling way xx

Amazing weight loss! You go girl!

Bonita so lovley to hear about your fab day - good for you with the walking. You are finally reaping the rewards of surgery and it about darn time! I want to buy the mag your in so let us all know when it is out!

Nic:D

yes defo let us no what mag you will be in. And what a brill weight loss great going

Bonita I think you are so brave posting your experience as it meant you had to relive it all again. However, I am glad that you did as it helps to remind us of the things that can go wrong. How is your husband coping, has he been able to talk to someone about how he felt when he was so frightened by what was happening to you? Have you been able to sit down and talk to one of the professionals about how the experience has affected you? Like a woman who has had a bad childbirth experience needs to talk to the midwife about it, most people going through a traumatic time like you did, need to have time to tell their story to a nurse/doctor etc to help them move on. I am glad that you would still have the op done given the choice. I'm rooting for you.
