Allergic to food and immune to diets: my gastric bypass story

sounds good Sara! Can't wait to start needing smaller sizes. Have a great time in Scotland :)

Thanks Sara for your account of the bypass - I've only discovered this site today but am booked in for my op on 29th August with Dr Ammori. It's made me feel so much better reading your posts. :)

I'm 31 and my BMI is 43 so am in a very similar position.

Hi Nikki,

Welcome to Mini's :D Jump in and ask anyone any questions! there are a few of us post-bypass on here now so there's nearly always someone around :)

29th August will be here in no time!

Shel

Thanks Shel and Susie.
Hi Nikki,
I'm glad that my story helped you out. Mr Ammori is a great surgeon. He's a bit on the quiet side, but my scars are tiny and tidy and my recovery was fast. If you have any questions in the run up to the operation then ask away. Like Shel said, we're all happy to help. It won't be long now and you'll be on the losing side with us!!

Sara when is it you're going to Scotland? Are you taking laptop with you? It'll be awfully quiet without you!

Hello, another newbie here. Just read through your thread in one go, it's a very good read!!

Well done on your weight loss and turning your life 180.

Quick question, how long did it take after the op to properly feel "well" again??

I'm hoping to get funding from my pct for a bypass but have 4 children 11,6,3 & 14mths along with a dh who works long hours. After reading your account i'm wondering if i'll be able cope afterwards ( positive thinking, they will fund me!!) with the demands of the little ones.

TIA Emz Xx

Hi Sara, catching up with your thread after a few weeks away, well bloody done on the weight loss!! fantastic hun!! Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding I know that you will look wonderful on the big day, I got married (and divorced!) too long ago to be of any help, but the ebay route seems a good way forward for the dress.
The problems that you are having with your period are exactly what I have been suffering with over the past two months, I have a implant in my arm and it stopped my periods for over a year but when I had the bypass they came back with gusto, spoke to my practise nurse who told me it was perfectly normal and should settle down once my weight loss slows down, the only thing I have to do is have a new one fitted as it can effect the reliability when you loose weight, not sure how that works but I dont want to be swelling up so soon with a bambino after loosing so much weight with my op! Hope this helps xx

Hello everyone!
I'm back from Scaotland and had a fantstic time. The course was a real rollercoaster emotionally, but I'm now back with lots of positivity. I am an advanced firewalk instructor. Firewalking, arrow breaking and bar bending is a great tool for finding direction and positivity in your life, so if anyone wants me to hold a workshop for a group, then you're looking in the right place. It's sooo cool!
I can't stay on for long today because I have lots of work to be catching up with. I hope you're all doing well too!!
P.s. Emz, I think you should have at least a couple of weeks off to get your strength back after the op. By then I had the energy to go back to the gym. Have even 3 weeks if you possibly can!

Oooh Sara well done :) sounds amazing.

May give you a shout next year as a session for my volunteers ;)

I'm doing good thanks :) started at the gym yesterday and feeling great.

Great to have you back and posting Sara, and well done on completing the instructors course - glad to hear all is well and well done on the weightloss too - 3stone 3 gone - amazing!

Hi Ali!
How are you?
I've not had much time at all to catch up on all the threads since I've been away and have a busy few weeks ahead of me. I'm really pleased with my weight loss. I'd honeslty almost forgotten about the weight that would still be dropping off whilst I was away! Lol. It's also nice to be able to nip on Minimins to speak to all of you lovely people too!
I had a couple of blips when I eat too fast, while I was away, but i learnt my lesson! I also tried a tiny piece of caramel snack-a-jack by mistake and almost passed out due to dumping. We live and learn eh!
I'm off to see my surgeon for the first time since the op tomorrow so I hope it all goes well! The bypass seems like an eternity ago now for some reason.

Hi sara,

You are doin absolutely fantastic - I hope my weight comes off at the rate yours has.

Sounds like the holiday was a very liberating experience - glad you enjoyed it so much - how is Gordon doing ??

Hi Caroline,
How are you?
Gordon's doing really well after his break. The special diet he was on has really helped. He's had loads of hospital appointments this week though.
We're now busily setting up a firewalking business so I'll let you know when our website goes live in a few weeks. Everyone has to check it out because I'm going to so much effort! Lol.Be prepared! We will be hitting Bolton and Manchester big time! Even the Uk and the world, who knows!! So when you're up for it, get in touch. It's a really fantastic experience to start a new, positive life and to re-evaluate everything and really live life.
Since the course I've been smashing my dissertation, doing lots of writing, doing work experience and busily setting up the business. Oh, I also went to see my surgeon, dietician and bariatric nurse yesterday. They tell me I'm doing well, esopecially since I've lost weight and not even been sick once! Wehey!!
I hope that you're recovering well too.
Keep in touch!

Oh, big, big P.S...
With all the excitement I forgot to mention that I fit into a size 16 dress today!!!! I was a 24 eleven weeks ago so I'm over the moon! Of course I had to buy it! Lol. I have a good excuse, I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks so I do need something to wear. Happy days!!
