Allergic to food and immune to diets: my gastric bypass story

Wow that's impossible to answer!! Anything from a few hundred to many many thousands! Our reception cost £13k but that's because we had a big do.

Any ideas on a date yet? If it's next year, perhaps you'll fit into that size 10 dress after all! That would be a great goal to work towards :):)

Alice xx

I guess it depends on you and what you want.

I took a year to plan my wedding... But a friend planned her's in 3 months... And I know of people who set the date years in advance so they can save up and pay for bits & pieces as they go...

The choice is aaaaaaaall yours :) How exciting! (need a wedding planner? :) )

So set the date for 18 months time. The anticipation is such fun and you'll have that great goal to help you lose the weight... Don't rush it - savour every moment!! Ohhhh I am jealous! I want to do it again lol

if you are a member of a sports club that does room hire you can usually get the room 4 free. 150ish for a dj and then whatever you want to spend on buffett.
sedgley park rugby club has a nice room and ellen the chef does a nice buffet. Depends where in manchester you are looking and how cheap you want to go.

get a magazine or two Sara - they help. My sister got married in May 2006 and was planning it for about 18 months - we had a small do - there were just 14 of us at her wedding and we went to Yorkshire and had a simple civil ceremony in a country house with a sit down meal afterwards. As there were so few of us we all stayed a couple of nights and it was lovely. We then hired a hall and did a buffett when we got back for uncle tom cobley and all who wanted to celebrate but I know my sis found flicking through bridal mags (I think there is a handbag sized one called wedding ideas or something similar which she found particularaly helpful). The most important thing is to not get stressed, planning a wedding is supposed to be fun xx

Hi Sara

I told you about my wedding at weekend!!!!!!!! my fist bit of advice, is sit down and decide what you really want, how you would like your day!!!!!!! see in my mind i wanted a fairytale wedding, but in reality i knew i couldn't afford it so i went for what i knew i would like!!!!!!!!!!! you don't have to spend thousands and thousands on a wedding! the important part will be yo0u and gordon and everything else will all fit into place!!!!!!!!

Always here if you need a chat or ideas..

Thanks Ali and Mandy,
Well, all I want really is a small wedding and a buffet or meal afterwards with a little entertainment. I've written up a list of people to invite, which is far too long. I doubt that they would all come anyway because of the travelling involved. Any iseas for quirjy entertainment?
I have lost another pound at last!! Yipee!!

Oh thats fab news !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh whatever you wear you'll look gorgeous !! Alice is on to the right thing....china is the place !!! My friend saw a Vera Wang dress ( was about 5k!!) and had it re-produced in China, Took 6 weeks to make, cost 280 quid to make and ship !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is so gorgeous. Very simple, classy and she is a bigger girly too size 16/18 ! Cant help with the venue's not my area but with a bit of thought weddings can be done on the cheap !!
Look at catering colleges for Cheap Wedding cakes, print your own labels for bottles and stick them on such a nice touch on the table !! Make your own favours if u wanted too. Food wise i've been to weddings where the food was big pots of Chilli and Spaghetti Bolognaise and my friend had hers in a Registry office first and then on to her village hall and it was decorated so so beautifully !! and all done by herself and family and i can tell u now i have been to weddings that cost a fortune !!!!!!!!!! and this was one that was absoultley amazing at a fraction of the cost....and were talking it cost 3k including her dress!!! was fab !! xxx

Also look at local newspapers for Bands and Entertainment. At the wedding i'm talking about they had a Frank Sinatra impersonator !! He was brilliant !! was so classsy and Gemma got him from there local paper as he was in a pub locally. He charged £200 for the set and was such a laugh !! xxx

Wehey!! My weight is now shifting again this week! That time of month, which seems to last me weeks, has passed and I'm another pound down today! So I have lost 2 stones and eleven pounds in total. and can't wit until it's 3 stones. I've figured out that the weight that I've lost so far is 30% of my excess weight. Only another 70% to go!!
I had a busy day yesterday, trying to set up interviews for my dissertation so ended up missing most of the rare northern sunshine. I haven't managed to set up a single interview yet, but I'm waiting on a few call backs so the wheeels are set in motion. Today, I'm going on the streets to find people to interview. I have their street names, so it's just a case of knocking on doors to find out exactly which house they live in. This is the bit that I like so it should be fun.
I nipped out in my size 18 shorts and vest once I was done yesterday, feeling great in smaller clothes, but then I caught a glimpse of myself in the car window. My legs and arms are huge!! I still feel frumpy. I'm hoping to get back to the gym soon. I was keeping away due to the pain in my side (under the scar) but that's getting better. I think I may need to book in with an instructor again so that I can work out a new plan to tone my limbs up.

Hey Sara - stop being so hard on yourself - regardless of the size of your bum you should be pretty chuffed at nipping out in size 18 anything compared to where you were at and your weight loss is amazing!!!! Well done!!!!! You need to celebrate you successes so re-phrase that you have lost a whopping 30% of your excess already - focus on what you have achieved and the rest will take care of itself!!

Good luck with the interviews - I will be up to my eyes in dissertation soon enough as well, but am preferring to be an ostrich and bury my head in the sand about that one at the mo!!!

Thanks girls. I am trying to be positive Ali, it's just that it has been a slow few weeks until yesterday. I'm chuffed to bits that I now fit into size 18s easily! Honestly!
My dissertation's due in during the first week of October, so I can't be an ostrich unfortunately! When's yours due in?

Not even started yet Sara!! I don't go back for my third year until Sept but it will be a mad year - we have a six month full time practice placement to do as well as two 5000 word essays and a portfolio of evidence to support the placement and a dissertation to write. Mmmm - me thinks I need to continue enjoying the summer (apart from the minor fact of the 2 essays I still have to complete from last term before we go back!!) Funnily enough I would much rather be 'playing' on here than reading serious academic books right now - I am using the excuse that I am still healing for now xx

Good excuse Ali. You have a good 5 weeks to do the essays in though. Do it when you feel up to it because if you're not in the mood you won't get much done.
I found both addresses for my interviewees but neither of them were in! I left a note through each letter box though, so hopefully they'll get in touch with me. I have had one response from yesterday's telephone calls so at least that's one interview sorted.
I struggled with my lunch today. The hot weather makes it hard to eat after my baypass. Has anyone else found that?
