Allergic to food and immune to diets: my gastric bypass story

Hi Sara, just catching up on threads - sorry to hear Gordon is not well. Hope things are a little brighter now for you. Chin up chick :)

PS, if you ever come to Norwich again, let me know and we can grab coffee, even if it is just at the station (and that goes for anyone else reading this too!!!!)

Ollie,
Thank you soooo much for your support and the information. I have passed it all on to Gordon. He has not even seen the specialist consultant yet and has been waiting all day. He was in the hospital because I checked if he was in his clinic and he was this morning, so I don't know what kept him away.
I've just come back from the hospital and Gordon was feeling sick and dizzy tonight. I feel like my hands are tied because I can't help him and none of the staff on the ward have an idea when he'll have the endoscopy or see this specialist. I'm meant to be going to hospital for a day on Thursday (a different hospital) for minor surgery, not related to the bypass, but I may have to cancel if Gordon's still not better.

Hi Ali,
I didn't know you were in Norwich. I would have let you know. Next time maybe. I have my chin up and am trying to get on with my dissertation in the middle of all the hospital visits because I have no other choice. It's due in 2 weeks. At least all I need to do is write the rest of it as I've done all the research. Thanks for your continuous support. I feel like I've abandonned everyone else's threads on minis recently becuase I've not had time.

Sara don't be daft, there are times in all of our lives when we have to put ourselves and those closest to us first.

I'm more than happy to help, baba... just wish I was there to chase up the Consultant for you both

(I've been known to be a bit of a fiesty old mare when it comes to lazyar*e Docs and the requisite chasing of aforementioned medics!!!  Some might say it's a favourite pastime, a hobby even!!! :giggle:)

I hope that you both get some answers in the next 24 hours, and you can make it to your appointment without being too worried :(

Take care, and if you need anymore info or just a natter to take the load of your mind, you know where I am...

:hug99:

Hi hun

Sorry to hear, it is really stressful at moment!!!! chin up my thoughts are with you both at the this moment in time.... Love ya

You know where i am if you need me

Hi Ollie and Shel,
Thanks for your support. He saw the specialist today and they're doing loads of tests on him over the next few days because he has been really ill. The specialist has also said that as soon as a bed becomes available on his ward, then he wants Gordon there. I'm hoping all these tests will help get to the bottom of the problem!
Also mum's coming over at the end of the week to give me a lift to the hospital for my appointment so I will be fine.
I'll keep you all posted on any developments...

It sounds like he has a good specialist Sara, so that's something.

Thinking of you and Gordon at this tricky time Sara, keep us posted as to your progress and good luck with the dissertation writing - what a time to have to do it :-(

Hi sara no words of advice but want to let you know I am thinking of you just now, hope things get better for you and gordon real soon.....Linda ((hug))..xx

Thanks Ali and Linda.
Gordon text me this moring and is still feeling really sick and dizzy. He has his camera at 1.45pm so I'm going to work on my dissertation for a few hours and then go ion because he hates things like this.
Yeah Ali, I know it's bad timing for my dissertation, the last time he was in hospital it was slap bang in the middle of my exams, so I'm getting used to multi tasking under pressure!

Hi sara hope everything goes well this afternoon for gordon. You take as much time as you need for yourself and him thats what matters at the moment. You will be back supporting everyone else when the time is right and till then were all here for you
HC

Hi Georgina and everyone else!
I managed to cut down the feature as much as possible and have been busy working and visiting Gordon in hospital until now. He had the endoscopy and they've said he has gastritis in his lower and upper stomch and bile reflux too. They suspect that he may have porphyria too as well as something else. We're waiting for his tests to come back and he's having a scan tomorrow. He's on morphine for the pain and still on lansoprazole too. He's finding it hard to eat proper meals as it makes the pain and sickness worse, so I have supplied him with lots of snacks. He has lost so much weight and is down to 10 and a half stones (lost over 3 stones). I keep teasing him that he went for a bypass too.
Thank you for all your support, I really appreciate it.
My mum's coming over tomorrow to take me to hopital for my op (not related to bypass as I said) so she's staying over to take care of me when I come out. I can always count on my mum.

Pleased they are managing to get to the bottom of what is wrong with Gordon!

Give him my love.... Hope all goes well with you and your op!!!! glad your mum is coming to look after you too.....

Thinking of you

Thinking of you both Sara, hope Gordon is feeling a lot better and that your op goes well xx
