Allergic to food and immune to diets: my gastric bypass story

Yipee! It's eight o'clock and I've just finished writing the fourth feature (out of 5) for my dissertation! Written 11,230 words now. I'm going to leave the last feature until tomorrow and am officially giving myself two days to complete that. I'm on work experience on Friday, so that will leave me the weekend to proof read the lot and write my self assessment. Oh I do feel pleased with myself and I'm glad that I'm on schedule!!
Going to nip to the hospital to see Gordon in a min. I'll probably have my tea there before heading home.

I'm now up to 12063 so it's going well. Not handing the dissertation in until a week on Friday now so I'll have more time to do it.
Gordon's pretty much the same. Seen some bone specialist and he has a problem with his cartlidge (don't know how to spell it) in his sternum they think as well.

well done on the word count sara :) seems like they are really getting to the root of things with Gordon, finally!

forgot to add, tell him the interestingly ill one says hi :D

Your doing great guns on your work. Poor Gordon he is having a tough time lately.....hopefully things will pick up soon.....Linda x

Thanks Shel and Linda. I've not had a good day today. I went to the hospital because I'm in pain after having skin tags removed last week. They've given me some cream, but the pain got worse as the day went on. I took ibuprofen, but ended up lying in bed most of the day because I didn't know where to put myself. I have another check up in a week.
I've been teaching a bit too and visited Gordon twice. He's the same, but has had his second scan which was clear. The drs are running out of things to test him for but are waiting for several blood and biopsie results to come back. They suspect he has something rare and have even emailed a "House" (off TV) type dr to ask for ideas. He thinks they may send him home tomorrow and see him as an outpatient when the results come back. I hope that it won't take weeks though because he's really fed up of feeling so bad.
I've called in sick at work experience for tomorrow because of my pain. I intend to work on my dissertation in bed. I have an extra couple of days though because the Inverness interview has been cancelled for next week as they had to interview this week to get someone appointed. With all that's going on, I'm not too bothered at the moment. It mustn't have been meant to be.
I hope you're all well.

Oh if only House were real (in my head he is, whenever I'm in hospital I always say 'what would house do').

I love House. He is my hero.

Your doing far too much at present and I dont blame you for calling in sick on your placement. I have been off work for a few weeks with mild depression. Things pile up and there seems no way of coping with them so sometimes a person needs to take a step back and recharge their batteries to carry on the battle. Which is what I am doing, I felt guilty at first but the time off has helped me a lot. I too wish house was real, I love the programme and we need more doctors that cut to the chase and get the job done. Hope you are feeling a bit more comfortable today, I have skin tags and want them removed I did not know there would be pain afterwards though! I also have a small mole that has changed in appearance and gets itchy which I need to speak to the doctor about but everytime I go for something else I forget I really must get it checked....enjoy your duvet day and I hope Gordon returns home soon...Linda x

I'm not feeling guilty about calling in sick because I'm in too much pain to be in an office all day. I was told that it would only hurt for a few days but it's been over a week and I'm in agony.
I'm working on my dissertation and am actually enjoying it as I can see the light at the end of the 14,000 word tunnel! I've now written 12,567 words. I seem to be living in a bubble since Gordon went to hospital. I just caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I look like a wreck. I'm dead pale and my hair is all dry and straggly.
Once Gordon's better and I have handed in this dissertation I can start taking more care of myself and my appearance!

Pancreas not my strong point sorry, it's possibly the only healthy bit of me :D

Cripes, baba... I really was hoping they had hit the nail on the head with Gordon's illness :(

And sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it after your op...

Here is a fab link, all about the pancreas and problems related to it etc;

I wish I knew of a real-life House, as well... he is SO cool!!! I adore that series :D

Sending you a huge hug, mate :hug99:

Sara you got me worried now as im having seven skin tags removed from my neck and chest on tue by my GP.
what was yr pain like after yr bypass do you have a low pain threshold. I cant see that with what you do swords, bars, fire walking etc
so should i be scared?!!!!

Hi Mandy,
I'm OK thanks. Gordon's still the same but was allowed home over the weekend. We've both got a cold too so we didn't get much done over the weekend. I now have 3 days to proofread and reference my dissertation, write the 1000 word self assessment and get it binded. I'll do it!
