Anyone under Luton & Dunstable hopsital

Bedford 2015 ......you cannot blame the docs etc , they do not put the food in your mouth , theyre there to help n guide ......just get back on it , keep it up and you will reach your goals !!!!

Actually Bedford I can completely agree with you!!! I have had my goal posts moved constant first it was 5% weight loss did that! Then they wanted more tests!! I don't drink smoke or have anything else I'm pretty healthy 320lb girl now 280lb but yet I went January 20th all was fine then got told beginning of feb they wanted another 5% and I had til 19th to lose it!! Fatbloke if we all had the will power and determination not to put food in our mouths or binge eat I don't think any of us would be excessively over weight and certainly now wouldn't be having surgery. Bedford just take a breath let it go over your head and move on!! Your very close to surgery and will all be worth it this time next year xxx if you need to talk message me xxx

That is very true Claudiadearman , and it wasnt ment as a dig at anyone , and I must admit I became very frustrated with Docs and nurses at Luton because I was doing as they said and seemed to be getting nowhere . Hence after having a pop atvthem I am now awaiting surgery , most of my weight gain was down to Oral Steroid abuse over 3 years prescribed to me by my G.P. and also becoming Alcahol dependant didnt help either !! Infact I am not a big eater nor do I binge eat either ...........tho very high Calories in Alcahol did not help . Im sure the docs mean well when they set these goals and target weights ........sorry if iv offended anyone .....but at the end of the day , we are all in thecsame boat !!!

Bedford2025 we are all week otherwise as claudiadearman said we wouldnt be trying to loose weight, I have just eaten pizza so unless i can loose the weight i have just put on by tuesday i will also be put back, but we will all be on the loosers bench soon, chin up.

Please don't feel scared to post opinions.

This forum works due to its openness and honesty. It's not about sugar-coating every response; sometimes a bit of "tough love" can work wonders, especially when you're several months post-op and wondering why you did this...

Having said that, whilst being open and honest, courtesy and respect is of utmost importance.

Also, remember, this is an online forum where people are protected from the reality of their identity. You can take whatever is said here with a large pinch of salt if you wish. Live your life.

You should be able to say how you feel, we are all in the same boat, we should all be non judgemental, we should be here to support each other

Bedford 2015 , sorry you was upset , not ment to do that , if you knew me youd know I only ment well and support for you , I am known for my frankness but im truelly not a bad person , we are all in this together and support and understanding is most important , yes courtsey and respect should be shown at all times ..................do not come off here ........if your hurting I will come off as it only seems fair , I want you to beat this and get the body you long for .......thats why we are all on here ,............hope im forgiven x

Are you lactose intolerant? My team took me off the milk after I kept being sick and upset tum and moved me onto low calorie diet instead

I didn't think so as I don't usually drink milk as don't agree with its processing and usually drink almond milk :-( my belly is sooo sure and bloated ive lost my weight I needed to so I'm just maintaining now. I'll call them Monday xxx

Hi all is ok. Thank you for the support. We all must be hell to live with?
I wonder if we gave normal weight people the milk diet would there mood change? X;)

I have thought of a question we need to research.
I currently work, so have to pay for prescriptions. So the thing is I have read we have to take vitamins not sure how many a day. We have to have b12 injection, most people suffer from constipation so need movicol. Can we get them free because this is a long term condition? Or do you think it would be better value for us to buy a years prescription- don't know cost? Any ideas? :)

It's £104 for yearly prescription.. I already buy one each year.. But will appreciate it more when I've had the op x

Good question, i was thinking about that the other day, will try and ask some facebook people who have had it done and see what they have done

Fortunately I am over 60 so I already get mine free.

Just an update on my MDT yesterday - they were OK about my feasting over Christmas as I got back onto losing the weight again. It lets them know where your head is and thankfully mine is in the right place. It's all systems go now, they said they will ring me on Mon/Tues with decision and a date to see surgeon.

In case anyone is interested, I had to have an Echocardiogram - I was told this is automatic for anyone over 50. Thankfully they found that I had a heart and that it was working well.:)

Sundowners glad to hear your heart is still beating and working well, i havent had mine yet, will probably have it on Tuesday when i see the consultant, Fab its all systems go for you now :)

Im currently taking nearly 30 capsules or tablets , plus use 3 inhalers daily , so pre -payment card is a must , if your taking things regularly and on a low income or some benefits its worth looking at a HC 1 form that helps you with health payments etc , believe you can even claim for travel expenses to and from hospital ......quite a form to fill in but well worth it hope this helps ,........with the pre payment card you can buy 1 , 3 , 6 or yearly ones and pay monthly , but its really worth getting yearly one as suprising how quick a year flies by .

I am fairly sure that only certain life long conditions bring free prescriptions - diabetes does - but statins and high blood pressure tablets for example, which people can be on for years - have to be paid for. Not all GPs will prescribe vitamins for all surgery types is another thing I have been told - some say that vitamins can be over the counter. the recent BOMSS guidance also suggest some of the vitamins we might need to take can be over the counter ones. I have a pre paid annual thing at a £10 a month or so and that works well for me :)
