August 2014 Surgeries

Hi Lauren, I am sleeping ok ish at night, they think the liver problem means the anesthetic is staying longer in my body, so still very tired during the day. Making myself get up and do the odd job here and there and walking around the house quite pain free, not needed painkillers for the last 4 days or so. Only think I am finding hard to stomach is the forceval, even the smell makes me heave. Hoping to change to tablet form soon as put off taking this still knowing how important it is. x

I have heard some people can take weeks to get it out of their system!
Poor you!
I'm lucky in the fact I only take lapranzinal ( how ever you spell it) I feel for everyone who has medication in liquid form I've heard they are not very nice!

Not nice hun. My surgeon said I wasn't going to need any of my meds in liquid form. They said I should be fine swallowing them. An anti depressant, gapapentin for my ME pain and back pain, simfastatin plus multi vitamin and extra vitamin d pills. Just need to add calcium and lanzoprozol to that lot. Plus the dreaded pre op and post off injections too

Wow that's good I found Pepsi Max the only thing to keep me going pre op diet.

I really do crave a fizzy drink now! Water and NAS squash is getting so boring!

Well done for loosing 9lbs. I am glad that you have recovered from your op and that you are feeling better.

I found in Sainsbury no added sugar ice lollies which included cola flavour, this helped with my diet coke fix. :)
I am getting bored with the liquid diet which I have been on for the last 18 days. My surgeon requires that I keep to a liquid diet for four weeks, then move onto purée for two week and then soft food for two weeks. What have told to follow?

hiya, ive also got 4 weeks liquid the four weeks pureed/soft then move on to proper food. two months of liquid and soft..can you imagine what that will look like!!!

Hello guys, sorry I haven't been in for a while, I've been acting like a turtle pulling into it's shell during my liver diet but I'm past the worst now and I'm booked in for surgery on Saturday.

Lauren, I'm sorry to read you had problems :( You have a colostomy stoma don't you? Is St. Anthony's like the hotel stay you were expecting?

Has anyone heard from WitchInWorthing? She was due to have her op in St. Anthony's on 16th Aug?

I've been doing the soup and yoghurt diet and I'm now finding it boring but I'm coping with it.

We hosted a barbecue for my in-laws on Saturday and I didn't eat any of it, not even a crumb of the chocolate cake! I feel very proud that I've managed to restrain myself.

My weight loss is a bit of a disappointment though. I'm on day 9 of the diet and have only lost 6.3/4lb

Hope everyone post op is doing well :)

It was basically swelling meaning nothing got through causing acid and bad bad pain!! Luckily it's all over with now!

St Anthony's was amazing!!! The staff are amazing and the little details just make it very homely such a difference from my stay in st George's this week!
It's silent at night meaning you get a lovely sleep you have your own room bathroom, good variety of tv if you ask for something ice ect it's bought to you on a tray in a silver jug (very posh) they constantly refresh your water! If you need pain medication ect it's done quickly just very very comfortable!
P.s your dressings are waterproof so you can shower as soon as you can stand ( they provide like a hotel little bottles of things)

I'm on my second week of liquids now and it's doing my head in so I really do feel for you!
Well done for avoiding the cake and BBQ food!
I keep seeing peoples "real food" and can't wait for a bite!

Such a shame your stoma swelled up so badly :( I'm so glad you're on the road to recovery now.

Thanks for the info on St. Anthony's - I'm looking forward to my stay there.

Well done kezzy. I'm on day 11 of mine and I'm sick of milk and water, I really look forward to my bedtime Bovril for a new flavour lol

I'm in such an emotional state today. I am so scared of having to self inject morning of op & 2 weeks post op. Has anyone post op had to do this?
