It's been so long since i posted on here but i need to have some sort of accountibiliy for what i am eating. I have not made the best choices these past 2 or 3 months and i need to get back on track.
My weight loss has been slow but i am going for my 3rd fill on Nov 24th and hoping to kickstart my losses again.

Today foodwise has not been good either but i will post anyway and hope to improve from now on.

Breakfast: Half Bowl of Greek Yoghurt and honey

Lunch: This is the bad part. I made a batch of Banana cakes with buttercream frosting and i have been picking at them since noon....i reckon in total i have eaten about 3!!!

Dinner: Will be Indian takeaway but i will probably just have a little rice and some chicken massala.

So, as you can see, not the best choices but i do aim to get back on the loosing track. Would be nice if i could lose a few pounds before my fill

I have said this MANY times but I find it bizzare that most of us are advised to avoid bread / rice/ pasta and a few are told its ok?

Refined or processed carbs are a major cause of weight gain, obesity, insulin resistance, and many other diet related diseases. Bread, rice and pasta are also notorious problem foods for banders as when they combine with the moistness in the stomach they can swell to the point of discomfort and stretch your banded pouch. They also fill you too quickly limiting your ability to get the nutrition you need from protein and veg.

I dont know  personaly I made the decision to give them up.

My provider (THG) say that people may struggle with rice, pasta, bread, dried fruits. But they are not foods that they say to avoid altogether (but rather until the band has settled in, after after 3 months).

A kids party cup size is a good portion size, they say, for carbs. I would add however that I do not eat that amount - just 2-3 tablespoons of brown rice or pasta (I use the tiny shells that go into minestrone soup rather than the large pieces). Bread of any kind is a no-no for me and my band - and I have really not missed it in the slightest, even though bread/toast used to be my downfall before the band. In no way do I wish to damage my stomach or band by pushing the boundaries by overeating the wrong type of food. Always stick to portion size in the following order - 1/4 protein; 1/2 veg; 1/4 carbs.

Just goes to show, its a confusing old world with the providers giving us all differing guidance. Thank goodness for a site like this, where we can all ask our questions and share our experiences.

My dietician told me to eat wholemeal bread as it can swell slightly in your pouch to give the fullness sensation and he said that you should only be able to eat 1/2 a sandwich with good restriction and that he uses this to see if you need a fill or not.
I must say that wholemeal toast is nice for breakfast even though it is "carby" but I just don't eat pasta or rice any more.
I have started to struggle recently with my food choices and my weight loss has slowed although I have lost half a stone over the past month and so I think I must lower my expectations of how fast this is going to happen. As long as I keep going down then I must be content. So:
Today:
B: 1 ryvita c butter
L: 1 slice roast beef, 1.5 roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage and yorkshire pud!!
D: 2 slices of rosemary focaccia bread with butter. Not great but couldn't resist.

I too was told to avoid rice, pasta and bread although I can have wraps. Today I've had a bit of a hang over :-(
B- cheesy scrambled eggs
L-quorn shepherds pie, 1 Yorkshire pudding mushy peas
D-shreddies with milk.

@ Macymoo - oh dear I hope the hangover has gone now x

@ MrsPil - I dont get why you would want to / by advised to fill your pouch with bread that swells when you can eat some lovely protein that will fill you without the swelling. The danger with eating bread is you have it, feel full, then it swells - meaning sticking, possibly PBing.

Anyway like I said its bizzare the differences but personaly 3/4 protein 1/4 veg has worked very well for me ;)

Well today was a weird day... no proper meal as I felt stuffed after few mouthful but grazed today I guess, so here it goes:
B) oat so simple managed two bites
L) 2 slices of turkey with stuffing in the middle (the stuff u have in sandwiches not a roast) so like 30grs all together. Some brie cheese.
Snack half a cake with coffee
2 slices of pizza with salad

My dietician was quite shocked when I told him at the beginning that I had chosen not to eat wholegrain bread. He said it is a food of great nutritional value and not to discount it. If it swells and makes you feel fuller for longer then I feel thats a good thing but I don't have great restriction yet either so PBing isn't an issue. I can't eat a whole loaf like I used to!! It also has a low GI so doesn't have a massive impact on blood glucose- unlike slimfast which I had been having for breakfast as slimfast is packed with unrefined carbs.
Food choices are very complicated and we all have our own wee ways :)

I'm so glad someone else has had a hangover on here! I don't feel quite as naughty as I did!! Commiserations Macy and I hope you had a splendid time! :)

B - yoghurt, cereals, blueberries and raspberries
L - cheese, hard-boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, cucumber
S - latte
D - mushroom soup

Will have another latte before I go to bed. Had my band fill this afternoon (9mls in 14ml band now) so on liquids / mushy foods for next couple of days. Planning ahead as I want this to be a good week.

Double checked with my dietician again about the types of food I am having and she said they are perfectly alright in the amounts I am consuming. She said it is good to have as much variety as possible and that includes the carbs (which she said you should have a little of with every meal - I dont have carbs at every meal at the moment, so I will be bearing that in mind for the future). She said white bread would block the band, so to avoid it; however flat bread / wraps /pittas are good, as is wholemeal/granary bread as it gets more receptors in the stomach working harder. Exactly like MrsP's dietician said.

Anyway hope everyone else has had a good day :eatdrink051:
